Chapter 1650 Convey
"What do you mean? I don't get it," Riley said, sounding impatient. "When Green bit him, he was already bleeding. The poison wouldn't have hit his bloodstream that fast. I bet the test results showed he wasn't poisoned."
"That's not the point," Micah said calmly. "Didn't you say the symptoms would start tonight? Is he gonna die?"
"No, he won't," Riley rolled his eyes. "We have rules in our line of work. We can't kill. Otherwise, I would've just taken him out during the fire at your place and saved us all this hassle."
"What symptoms will he show when it starts?" Micah pressed.
"At first, it'll seem like a regular cold, then it'll get worse," Riley replied. "Why do you wanna know?"
"Dial a number for me. I need to make a call."
"That'll cost extra!"
In Biston, Sadie got a call from Dahlia and frowned. "What? You said Alan went to the clinic for a blood test?"
"Yeah, I've had someone keeping an eye on him. They said the test results showed no poisoning."
"Of course, there's no poisoning," Sadie said, getting anxious. "I tricked Silas and Ryan into faking his blood test report, saying he was poisoned. Seeing his reaction, Silas believed he was an impostor.
"I did it to drive a wedge between him and Nicholas. Yesterday, I even smeared blue paint on my hand and touched his forehead, claiming he was poisoned and had a blue mark. He freaked out and drove to Crestonvale to get tested, but Nicholas intercepted him. I didn't expect him to go to another clinic today."
"I get it," Dahlia said, understanding. "I thought Nicholas had really poisoned him."
"Nicholas probably knows he went for another test. This time, he didn't stop him, letting him figure things out and give up."
Sadie frowned, thinking. "This messes up our plan to drive them apart."
"Not necessarily," Dahlia said, hinting. "Maybe he really is poisoned."
"What do you mean?" Sadie asked, puzzled.
Dahlia thought for a moment and hinted, "Someone happened to meet Alan at the clinic and had a snake bite him, so..."
"Was it Riley?" Sadie asked, shocked.
Dahlia coughed twice, not answering.
"Did Riley contact you?" Sadie asked excitedly.
"Sorry, Ms. James, I can't say much," Dahlia answered cautiously. "I can only tell you that things are looking up. You can relax."
"Could it be..."
"Ms. James, I have another call coming in. I need to go."
Sadie hadn't finished her question when Dahlia hurriedly hung up.
Sadie pondered Dahlia's words, analyzing. Riley was proud and wouldn't call Dahlia to inform her. This call was likely from Micah.
Thinking of this, she felt a surge of excitement. Her previously gloomy mood brightened.
If Micah could make a call, it meant his condition was improving. Maybe soon, he could come home.
But quickly, Sadie began planning the next steps. Since Alan had been "finished off" by Riley, the poison would soon take effect.
His relationship with Nicholas would also change. She should add fuel to the fire to make it burn brighter.
With this in mind, Sadie sent Alan a text: [If I'm not mistaken, the poison will start affecting you tonight.]
