Chapter 1609 Mr. Clemens Awakens
"Still no word."
Sadie didn't know how to break it to Ryan that Tristan was in no shape to help her right now. She couldn't bring herself to bother him at such a crucial time.
Ryan sighed deeply. "I've been freaking out and kept pushing you to reach out to him. Now that I think about it, he's probably swamped too."
"Yeah," Sadie said, feeling helpless. "But I'll figure something out."
Ryan sounded defeated. "The guy we're up against is a pro; every move is spot on. We don't stand a chance against him. Unless the real Mr. Clemens comes back, we're toast."
"There has to be a way," Sadie tried to reassure him.
"You've already done so much. I shouldn't be putting this company stuff on you. You should focus on finding the kids first," Ryan said earnestly. "As long as the kids are safe, nothing else matters."
"I get it."
Sadie felt a pang of sadness, unsure of what to say.
"I'll hang up now. Take care," Ryan said before ending the call.
Sadie felt heavy-hearted as she looked up at the wedding photo on the wall. In the picture, Micah gazed at her with such tenderness that it brought tears to her eyes. Choking up, she whispered, "Honey, where are you? Please come back. I can't hold on much longer."
Deep in the forest, Micah seemed to hear Sadie's call. He suddenly opened his eyes and murmured, "Sadie!"
"Finally awake?" A cold voice sneered, dripping with disdain. "If you didn't wake up soon, your wife and son would be in serious trouble."
"What did you say?"
Micah slowly turned his head, frowning at Riley, who wore a dark green mask.
Riley was making soup, with a green snake sleeping on her shoulder. Hearing Micah's voice, the snake lifted its head to glance at him before going back to sleep.
"Your son was kidnapped, your wife is being bullied by your Clemens Family, and you're just lying here like a useless man," Riley snapped. "The worst part is, my babies got caught up in this mess, too. Those bastards kidnapped my three babies, and Mary got seriously hurt!"
Riley was seething with anger. "If I find out who did this, I'll make sure they beg for life and death!"
"Tell me," Micah demanded, trying to turn over, but his body was too stiff to move. He strained his neck to ask, "Who kidnapped my son? Who was it?"
"How should I know?" Riley glared at him coldly. "If I knew, I'd have gone after them already."
"What exactly happened?" Micah asked urgently. "What else did you hear?"
"Your Clemens Family bullied Sadie, and there's something about the Graham Family," Riley said impatiently. "They sent an unconscious person and a cripple, along with Mary, back home and refused to let them stay in the hospital.
Mary had a fever, and Sadie had to beg an old man to get a hospital bed.
I've always heard that your Clemens Family is full of scumbags, and now I see it's true. Taking advantage of your near-death state to bully a bunch of helpless people, it's disgusting!"
"Hold on."
Micah was trying to piece together Riley's chaotic words. Her logic was all over the place, and she hadn't remembered a single name correctly, making her explanation almost useless.
But after thinking it through, he quickly figured out the situation.
"You must be talking about the Graham Family from Country H. They must be seizing the opportunity of my accident to take over Clemens Group's assets, probably with Alan's help, controlling the board and kicking Sadie out of the Clemens Family.
Then they kidnapped the kids to threaten Sadie.
And the unconscious person, could it be Andrew? He got shot saving me, probably survived, but remains unconscious.
And the cripple, it must be either Rylan or Rodolfo, injured while rescuing people from the fire."
