Chapter 1581 Ran Away
Still no response.
Sadie hesitated at the door, then called out, "Riley, I know you're helping Micah. Whether you can cure him or not, I'm really grateful. I just want to know how he's doing. The kids miss you too."
Just as she finished, she heard a car engine start up in the backyard. Her heart skipped a beat, and she ran over.
Sure enough, a beat-up old van was shakily driving away.
It was gone.
Sadie watched the van, noticing a bald eagle and a large snake painted on the roof. It had to be Riley.
She hurried after it, shouting, "Riley, Riley, don't go!"
But Riley didn't look back, speeding off in the van.
Despite its dilapidated state, the van moved like a rocket under Riley's control.
Her driving skills were even better than Arya's!
Sadie was quickly left behind, unable to keep up. She couldn't call for a car to chase after Riley either; she couldn't afford to offend her future sister-in-law.
Frustrated, Sadie stomped her foot and reluctantly returned to the small building in the backyard of Half Mountain Villa.
There were still some things left to clean up: herbal residue, discarded clothes, some medical gauze, medicine boxes, and cotton pads.
It seemed Riley had indeed been treating Micah here.
As Sadie was thinking, she suddenly noticed some writing on the ground near the flower bed. She hurried over to check.
The words were crooked and hard to read: [Micah's not dead, still treating!]
This simple sentence finally lifted the weight off Sadie's chest. She was almost in tears with joy.
Although she had suspected as much before, she hadn't been sure. But now, seeing Riley's message, she felt reassured.
Micah was alive. He was still alive.
Thank goodness!
As long as Micah was alive, she could face any storm.
However, Sadie couldn't understand why Riley had run away. She had come alone, sent everyone else away. Why was Riley still avoiding her?
Even if Riley didn't want to see anyone else, surely she wouldn't think her sister-in-law would harm her?
Especially since she was treating Micah.
As she was pondering this, urgent footsteps suddenly sounded outside. Sadie's eyes narrowed, and she quickly drew her gun.
The person outside, knowing someone was inside, was also on high alert.
But when the figure approached, both sides were stunned.
"Ms. James?"
"Terry? What are you doing here?"
"What are you doing here?"
Both were surprised to see each other.
After a brief exchange, Sadie learned that Tristan had been searching for Riley and had even called his most trusted assistant, Terry, back from Country E to help.
After Terry explained the situation, Sadie asked in confusion, "Wasn't Riley with Tristan before? What's going on now?"
"It's a long story," Terry replied. "Mr. James wants me to bring Riley back to Country E. Do you know where she is?"
"She just ran off," Sadie said, feeling a bit dejected. "I couldn't catch up."
"Looks like we'll have to keep searching," Terry sighed. "Ms. James, time is of the essence. I need to go find her. Take care!"
With that, Terry and his team headed out the back door.
Sadie called out, but Terry didn't stop, leaving in a hurry.
Only now did Sadie understand why Riley had run upon seeing her. Riley must have known Tristan was looking for her and feared being taken back to Country E.
But Sadie couldn't understand. Weren't they back together?
Why was Riley avoiding Tristan?
