Chapter 1648 Marry or Not

"Where are you?" Nicholas barked as soon as Alan answered the phone.

"What do you want?" Alan snapped back, clearly annoyed by Nicholas's demanding tone.

"Get over to my place now," Nicholas commanded, leaving no room for debate. "We need to talk."

"If this is about the wedding, forget it," Alan retorted, his irritation evident. "I was there last night. Olivia not only refused to marry me but also humiliated me."

"It's all sorted now," Nicholas said confidently. "I've convinced her."

"Fine, I'll come by later."

Alan knew he couldn't afford to upset Nicholas right now. He still needed Nicholas's help to deal with the Clemens Group.

Alan thought back to his youth when Nina always pushed him to learn about business strategies, hoping he would develop the same acumen and skills as Micah. But he had no interest in business at all.

Looking back, he realized that his lack of effort back then was the reason he struggled with business issues now, relying on others for help.

If he had the necessary skills, he could seek revenge and take over the Clemens Group on his own.

How did he end up as Nicholas's pawn?

"Mr. Clemens," the doctor approached hurriedly with a lab report in hand. "The results are in."

"Let me see," Alan quickly took the report and examined it closely. "What does this mean?"

"It means your blood is perfectly normal, no signs of poisoning," the doctor said with a smile.

"No poisoning?"

Alan was stunned and somewhat surprised.

Could Sadie have been lying to him?

Nicholas hadn't poisoned him after all.

"Yes, the tests came back completely normal," the doctor confirmed.

"Are you sure there's no mistake?" Alan still felt uneasy.

"Absolutely," the doctor nodded. "These tests are accurate, but if you're still worried, we can run them again."

"No, that's fine."

Alan put away the report and stood up to leave.

The doctor followed him out, eager to see him off.

Once in the car, Alan was still puzzled. "Looks like I wrongly accused Nicholas. He didn't poison me; Sadie was just trying to stir up trouble."

"Good to hear," his subordinates sighed in relief. "But Mr. Davis, even if Ms. James was trying to cause trouble, her words weren't entirely wrong. I think Mr. Graham wants you to marry his daughter to monopolize the Clemens Family's assets. You should still be cautious."

"Of course, I'm not an idiot."

Alan nodded and then rubbed his temples. "Strange, I'm starting to get a headache."

"Maybe it's because you've been drinking too much and not resting enough."

"Probably. I'll get some sleep early tonight."

"So, where to now?"

"The Graham Villa."

"Yes, sir."

At the Graham Villa.

Nicholas stared coldly at Olivia, his tone commanding. "I'll give you three minutes to decide. If you don't marry Micah, I'll make your sister marry him. You know she would be willing."

"That's not Micah, that's Alan."

Olivia was furious. The thought of being deceived by an impostor made her feel sick.

She had admired Micah since she was young, carefully preserving herself for him, wanting to give her pure, untouched love to the man she adored.

But now, she had been tricked by a fake.

"It doesn't matter," Nicholas dismissed her feelings. "They look the same, sound the same, have the same status. What's the difference?"

"It's not the same, it's not the same," Olivia was on the verge of breaking down. "A fake will never replace the real thing."

"I'm done arguing with you," Nicholas said impatiently. "Are you marrying him or not?"

"No," Olivia said vehemently. "I never want to see him again for the rest of my life."
