Chapter 1657 The Children's Father

"It shouldn't be that quick," Riley said, mixing the medication. "Don't rush."

"Let me try," Micah insisted.

"Alright."

Without hesitation, Riley nudged Micah with her foot.

"Can't you be a bit more gentle—"

Before Micah could finish, he fell onto the wooden bed, gasping in pain.

"I told you it wouldn't be that quick," Riley continued mixing the medication, ignoring him.

"How can you be a doctor with such little patience?"

Micah lay on the wooden bed, feeling both indignant and frustrated.

"Please, I'm not your average doctor," Riley replied dismissively.

Micah knew asking her for help was pointless, so he tried to get up on his own. But his back and waist were too weak, and his body was stiff, making it impossible to sit up.

Riley paid him no mind and continued with her work.

Micah tried again and again to sit up. After several attempts, he managed to lift himself a little, but before he could sit up fully, he fell back down heavily.

But he didn't give up. He kept trying, kept pushing himself.

After many attempts, just as he was about to fall again, something furry supported him from behind.

Startled, he turned to see the old, lame wolf.

The old wolf lay behind him, using its body to prop him up.

Micah quickly used the support to sit up, but his body was still weak, and he fell back down, this time onto the wolf, which cushioned his fall and lessened the pain.

He didn't give up and tried again.

This time, he finally managed to sit up. Though his body wobbled and he looked like he might fall at any moment, it was a significant breakthrough.

Micah shouted excitedly, "I did it! I sat up!"

Riley turned to look, initially stunned, then remarked, "You've got some determination!"

Micah was drenched in sweat but refused to give up. Panting, he said, "Increase the dosage. I need to be back at the company tomorrow for the board meeting!"

"You're going back tomorrow?" Riley was surprised. "You're not fully recovered. Going back now will expose you. I'm not going to Hillside Villa with you. How will you continue your treatment?"

"I can't delay any longer. If I wait, the company will be ruined," Micah was eager to return. "If I go bankrupt, you won't get your medical fees!"

"Then you need to go back immediately," Riley responded quickly. "Protecting your assets is crucial!"

"So, you need to come with me to the company tomorrow," Micah finally got to the point. "You can disguise yourself. No one will know your identity."

"I don't care if people know or not," Riley rolled her eyes. "I'm worried about the James Family finding me."

"I can guarantee that," Micah understood her concern. "I won't let Tristan's people take you from me."

"You guarantee?" Riley laughed. "You're half-paralyzed. How can you guarantee anything? Can you even take on Tristan right now?"

"In terms of strength, I can't beat him now. But in terms of strategy and planning, that's a different story."

Micah tested her, "Besides, Newark is my territory."

Riley's face darkened, and she said seriously, "You have no idea about Tristan's capabilities. Do you think he's just a blockhead with no brains? He's smart."

"Seems like you don't hate him that much," Micah smirked. "You can yell at him all you want, but you won't let others look down on him."

"Of course," Riley raised an eyebrow. "He's the father of my children!"
