Chapter 1632 The Promise Made
Sadie paused for a moment before saying, "With Olivia's situation, the wedding plans are definitely gonna be delayed. This could be a good chance for us."
"Yeah, that makes sense," Annika sighed in relief. "I was worried. Olivia's accident is her dad and Alan's fault, not yours. You shouldn't feel bad."
"I do feel bad, but I've done my best," Sadie replied, frowning as she glanced at her watch. "Step on it, we're running out of time."
"Got it," Annika quickly accelerated.
At 3:05 PM, the car finally arrived at the VIC Group building.
As expected, a group of unfamiliar bodyguards immediately blocked Sadie's way.
Ryan wanted to come down to help but was restrained by the Graham Family's people, stuck in the conference room.
Just as Sadie was about to push her way through, Dahlia, Rodolfo, and others arrived with Silas, accompanied by eight imposing bodyguards, all former top guards of Micah.
With this show of force, the VIC Group's security didn't dare to stop them.
The group escorted Sadie and Silas into the building and into the elevator. Sadie urgently asked, "Silas, how did you get out?"
"Rylan sent people to sneak into the villa and quietly brought me out, then Dahlia and her team came to help," Silas said, visibly excited.
"That jerk impersonated Mr. Micah Clemens, kicked you out of the Clemens Villa, kidnapped the kid, and teamed up with outsiders to grab the Clemens Family assets, causing chaos in the Clemens Group. It's truly despicable!"
"There's no point in cursing him now," Sadie frowned. "Alan has already brought Nicholas into the board. We gotta stop this, or we'll face bigger problems down the road."
"The key now is to prove that this guy isn't Mr. Micah Clemens, but Alan," Silas said. "Once we prove that, he won't have any decision-making power."
"That's tough," Sadie smiled bitterly. "With Grandpa gone, the Clemens Family has no other direct relatives. The collateral relatives can't prove anything. DNA tests with the kid show that everyone believes the kid isn't his, so how can we prove it?"
"Can we prove it through other means?" Dahlia suggested. "Projects Mr. Clemens handled before, and the knowledge he had, Alan wouldn't understand."
"Micah was seriously ill before the incident. He could claim that his illness affected his memory, and he doesn't remember anything."
Sadie dismissed this idea again.
Everyone was anxious.
"There's only one last option," Sadie frowned. "It's not a great solution, but it can mitigate some losses and buy us some time."
"What is it?" Silas asked urgently.
At that moment, the elevator doors opened, and Sadie walked out without saying a word.
"Ms. James."
Anthony had been waiting outside. To Alan, he was just a minor character, unnoticed by anyone.
Thus, no one stopped him.
"Anthony!" Sadie hurried over. "Do you have the statement?"
"Right here," Anthony handed her an envelope.
Sadie opened it and found Micah's handwritten statement. It was brief and to the point, essentially saying:
Due to his debt to Sadie, he had signed a debt repayment agreement with her two years ago. From the date of the agreement, half of all his income would be given to Sadie without any conditions.
The agreement was accompanied by his State ID and a notarized letter!
Seeing the agreement, Sadie's eyes welled up with tears. Her emotions were a complex mix, hard to describe.
She had never imagined that a joke, a casual remark from the past, would now become her lifeline.
Micah had fulfilled every word he had said to her, including this seemingly casual promise!
