Chapter 1593 Waver

Thinking about all this, Sadie found herself unable to move forward.

The thought of betraying Micah and being with another man made her feel extremely resistant.

"I know you're struggling, it's okay, no rush," Alan said as he walked over, pulling Sadie to sit down and pouring her a drink. "Have some wine, relax a bit."

Sadie took the glass but didn't drink. Instead, she looked up at him and asked, "Didn't you ask Nicholas why you have toxins in your body?"

"Stop pretending," Alan scoffed, his tone dripping with disdain. "This is all part of your scheme with those two. I had my blood tested at two different hospitals, and there was nothing wrong."

"Now even the Clemens Family is under Nicholas's control. Do you think manipulating a few hospitals is difficult for him?" Sadie retorted sarcastically.

"Alan, you really didn't inherit your mother's intelligence. You're so simple-minded, no wonder you're being used as a pawn."

Alan's brows furrowed, his eyes flickering with a hint of unease.

He had previously suspected the poisoning incident. After all, when the tests were done at VIC Group, Sadie had no chance to privately communicate with Ryan and Silas. They couldn't have tampered with the test results or blood samples.

If they were going to tamper, why not do it with the DNA?

That would have secured Sadie's position.

So afterward, Alan confronted Nicholas about the poisoning. Nicholas vehemently denied poisoning him, claiming it was a plot by Sadie, Ryan, and Silas.

To verify, Alan went for a check-up with Nicholas accompanying him, and the results showed no signs of poisoning.

Still uneasy, Alan secretly went for another test, which also came back clean.

So he had relaxed.

But now, with Sadie's words, Alan was growing uneasy again.

"Can't you feel if you're poisoned?" Sadie questioned. "Have you been feeling unwell lately? You should have some symptoms, right?"

Alan thought carefully and realized that he had indeed been feeling off. Recently, he had frequent headaches, occasional heart pains, and sometimes his whole body ached.

He never had these issues before.

Stopping his thoughts, Alan quickly composed himself and returned to the main topic.

"No, this isn't the time to discuss this. Whether I'm poisoned or not, I'll find out myself. But you, do you still want to save your children?"

"I must save my children. I'll give you whatever you want," Sadie countered. "But how do I know you won't go back on your word?"

"Do you still have the right to negotiate with me?" Alan glanced at his watch. "The deadline is tomorrow morning, right? If the divorce isn't finalized by then, they'll cut off your son's finger!"

"You wouldn't dare," Sadie erupted, grabbing Alan's collar in fury. "If you touch my son, I'll kill you!"

"Get it straight, it's not me who's going to hurt your son, it's them," Alan calmly pried Sadie's hands off. "I've never supported kidnapping children, but some things are beyond my control."

"You're involved in all the bad things, don't try to wash your hands of it," Sadie glared at Alan with hatred. "Alan, bad deeds will come back to haunt you."

"I've never believed in karma," Alan sneered. "If karma existed, Raymond wouldn't have lived to 98, and Micah wouldn't be where he is today."

"Do you think they're innocent? Without bloodshed and lives lost, they wouldn't have what they have now."
