Chapter 22 The Rescue
Sadie hurried into the bathroom, hoping to escape the office's prying eyes. Before she could close the door, Samuel followed her in, squeezing into the small, humid space filled with the fragrance of soap.
"What are you doing?" Sadie stepped back, eyeing him warily.
"I'm here to check on you," Samuel's lips curled into a smug grin, his eyes gleaming with a predatory malice. He sneered, "I didn't realize you were so ambitious, going after Mr. Clemens!"
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Sadie shouted angrily, her heart pounding with panic. She knew Samuel's intentions and couldn't let him have his way.
Samuel, undeterred, moved closer, trying to corner her. He said, "You came down from the 68th floor, wrapped in Mr. Clemens' bathrobe, looking all messy. Weren't you trying to seduce Mr. Clemens? I think you should give up. Mr. Clemens is way out of your league and has no interest in women like you."
"You're crazy! Get out!" Sadie yelled as she pushed him away, trying to escape the confined space.
But Samuel wasn't willing to let go. He grabbed her wrist and pulled her closer. He whispered, "Stop struggling and behave. You've already slept with Ronan. What are you pretending for?"
As he unbuttoned his shirt, his face twisted with desire, he moved his hands toward her. He snorted, "You can't get Mr. Clemens, so you might as well be with me. I'm a senior executive at VIC Group, making a million a year. You're lucky I'm interested in you!"
Sadie glared at him with disgust. She warned, "Take one step closer, and I'll scream."
Samuel laughed, a dry, menacing sound that made Sadie's skin crawl and her heart sink. Samuel dared to do this in the bathroom, confident no one would intervene.
"It's after hours, sweetheart. Everyone on the 13th floor has left. Just the two of us here. Even if I rape you, no one will know," Samuel sneered, lunging at her. Sadie found herself pinned against the cold bathroom wall, Samuel's teeth sinking into her neck as his hands moved impatiently, tearing at her bathrobe.
The belt came loose in the struggle, and just as Sadie was about to scream, someone's phone rang loudly. The sudden noise made Samuel pause. Sadie tried to retreat, but with the wall behind her, there was nowhere to go.
At that critical moment, the bathroom door was kicked open with a resounding crash, and Micah stormed in like an avenging force. His gaze was sharp as a knife, and it was fixed on Samuel.
Micah didn't hesitate. A powerful kick sent Samuel crashing against the opposite wall, the sound of bones cracking echoing in the small bathroom. Samuel slumped to the ground, unable to stand.
With Samuel, no longer a threat, Micah turned his attention to Sadie, his eyes filled with a different kind of intensity. He snapped, "Flirting with a colleague during work hours, do you want to be fired from VIC Group?" His voice was low and cold, dripping with contempt.
"I didn't!" Sadie protested immediately, desperate to explain the situation. Samuel, despite his pain, tried to retort.
"Mr. Clemens, believe me, she was the one who seduced—"
Micah's fist collided with Samuel's jaw before he could finish. The punch sent him staggering back, blood trickling from his mouth.
"I'm telling the truth!" Samuel gasped, clutching his face. "Sadie's a promiscuous woman. Four years ago, she was dumped and then slept with a male escort, driving Edmond to jump from a building. Everyone knows this."
"You talk too much," Micah's voice was ice-cold, his eyes filled with malice.
Andrew, who had followed Micah, immediately grabbed Samuel and slammed him against the wall, choking him. "One more word, and you'll lose your tongue."
Feeling the suffocating grip of death, Samuel's eyes widened with terror, his body trembling uncontrollably.
Sadie, standing to the side, felt tears well up in her eyes. She hadn't expected that this cold-hearted demon, Micah, would save her in her moment of need. She looked at Micah with a mix of awe and gratitude, her heart pounding wildly.
