Chapter 28 New Position

Sadie walked into the company building, feeling exhausted and uneasy. Her body still felt achy and weak, but she forced herself to pull it together for work. As she moved through the office area, she noticed her colleagues' gazes had shifted, now filled with an unusual and uncomfortable curiosity.

'What's going on?' she thought, a pang of anxiety shooting through her. Could it be that Samuel's incident had been exposed? Did everyone misunderstand her?

Before she could ponder further, Malcolm, the Director of Administration, approached her. "Sadie, report to the HR department immediately," he said without further explanation. Sadie, confused and anxious, quickly made her way to HR, her heart pounding as she wondered what was happening.

When she entered the HR department, the manager looked at her with a stern face. "Sadie, you've been transferred to the Security Department. Report there right away," he said coldly, a hint of disdain in his tone.

Sadie's eyes widened in surprise. "What? The Security Department?" she repeated, disbelief clouding her expression. This must be a mistake! Just yesterday, Samuel had tried to assault her, and Micah had intervened, leading to Samuel's demotion to a parking lot guard. But now, she, the victim, was being punished? It was absurd and utterly unfair.

"I'm going to report this to Mr. Clemens!" Sadie said indignantly, her voice rising.

"Report to Mr. Clemens? Don't even think about it," the HR manager sneered, a threatening glint in his eyes. "Mr. Clemens himself arranged this. If you keep pushing, I'll dock your pay."

Sadie was left speechless. She couldn't fight back; the company belonged to Micah, and he could do whatever he wanted. Reasoning with him was impossible. Swallowing her anger, she took a deep breath, grabbed the security uniform, and reported to the Security Department.

Despite the embarrassment, Sadie found slight comfort in the warm welcome from her new colleagues. They were curious but friendly. "Wow, this is my first time seeing a lady security guard, and such a beautiful one, too!" a young guard remarked with a smile.

"Yeah, it's really rare!" another chimed in, his face lighting up with friendliness.

Sadie's shoulders relaxed a bit. Though the transfer was clearly some kind of punishment, at least the atmosphere here was better. "Do you know why I was transferred here?" she asked tentatively, worry lacing her voice.

"You probably offended someone higher up and got suppressed. It happens all the time," said a colleague, sympathy in his eyes. "But don't worry, we'll take care of you."

"Thank you," Sadie replied with a small smile. Just then, she let out a huge sneeze, nearly spraying snot all over the security captain.

"Do you have a cold?" the security captain asked kindly. "It's your first day, so just follow David Cooper to patrol the parking lot. It's a lighter workload."

"Thank you!" Sadie said gratefully, accepting the assignment.

David handed her a security hat and guided her to the parking lot. Dressed in an oversized uniform from HR, she looked almost comically out of place. Her new uniform was being custom-made, but for now, she had to manage with this ill-fitting outfit, tightening her belt to keep her pants up.

As soon as they arrived at the parking lot, a sleek white Bentley approached. Sadie recognized the car immediately—Ronan's.

David pulled her along to greet him. He opened the car door, revealing a pair of long legs stepping out elegantly. Dressed in a white suit, the man stood tall and slender. As her gaze traveled upward, she froze.

It was really Ronan.

Four years had passed, and he was thinner but even more strikingly handsome. Sadie's heart pounded violently in her chest, memories flooding back. How had he been all these years?

With bodyguards in tow, Ronan walked toward the elevator, radiating an air of authority and grace. Sadie, lowering the brim of her hat, slipped behind a pillar and watched secretly.
