Chapter 1667 Disconnect
"Mom, I'm fine, really. Don't worry."
Noah's voice was raspy and weak.
"Noah, I'm so sorry," Sadie couldn't hold back her tears.
"Mom, don't say that," Noah cried too. "I'm okay. I'm with Uncle Terry, and I'll be home soon."
"Alright," Sadie took a deep breath. "Let me talk to Uncle Terry."
"Okay."
"Ms. James!"
"Please take good care of Noah and get him to the hospital."
"Don't worry, I will," Terry assured her. "You should head to the office. I'll handle things here."
"Alright."
Sadie hung up the phone, wiped her tears, and looked up at Rylan. "Step on it. We need to get to the office."
"Yes, ma'am."
The silver Aston Martin sped down the highway like a gust of wind.
It was already 2:30 PM. They had just left the outskirts of Biston and still had a long way to go to Newark.
Sadie was worried she wouldn't make it to the 3 PM board meeting. She pulled out her phone and dialed Chloe's number, but couldn't get through.
She frowned and tried calling Ryan, but that didn't connect either.
She then tried Silas's number, but still no luck.
Sadie was very concerned. Could Nicholas have taken control of them?
She tried calling other shareholders at the company, but none of the calls went through.
Even the president's office phone went unanswered.
Sadie was getting anxious. She immediately instructed her assistant, "Try to contact anyone from the Clemens Group, even a security guard. I need to know what's happening at VIC Group."
"Yes, ma'am." The assistant quickly got to work.
Sadie thought for a moment and then called Annika. This time the call went through, but no one answered.
She found it very strange. It seemed like everyone had suddenly lost contact.
What on earth were they doing?
Sadie felt deeply uneasy.
At VIC Group.
Chloe hurriedly gave orders, "Get this fixed immediately. Why did the company suddenly lose signal? All communication devices are down, the internet isn't working, and we can't make any calls. It's bizarre."
"We're checking the issue and have notified the service provider to come and inspect."
"Do it quickly. The board meeting is about to start."
"Understood."
After giving instructions, Chloe rushed to Ryan's office and explained the situation. "Don't worry, it should be resolved soon."
"There's definitely something wrong," Ryan said, frowning. He knew that such a situation at this critical time meant someone was tampering with things.
"Find someone inconspicuous and have them leave the VIC Group building to call Ms. James from outside," Ryan ordered decisively. "Do it now."
"Yes, sir." Chloe immediately went to arrange it.
Ryan checked his watch. Time was running out. He asked his assistant, "Go see if Silas has arrived."
"I sent someone to meet him half an hour ago."
"Go again," Ryan urged. "Don't wait in the underground parking lot. Meet him at the building entrance and see if you can make a call from there."
"Yes, sir." The assistant quickly left.
"Check which other board members haven't arrived yet," Ryan instructed another assistant.
"I checked earlier. It's just you and Silas left. Everyone else is in the conference room. Declan arrived three minutes ago. All the board members are waiting. But Mr. Clemens hasn't arrived yet."
Before the assistant could finish, Chloe burst in, saying urgently, "Alan and Mr. Graham are here, and Olivia too."
"What about Silas?" Ryan asked immediately.
"He hasn't arrived yet," Chloe said, frowning. "I sent someone outside to call his assistant. We should hear back soon."
"Could something have happened?" Ryan's expression was serious. "Sadie hasn't been able to reach anyone for the past hour."
