Chapter 1624 Expert
"Hope Noah's okay," Dahlia said, her brow furrowed. "I've been trying to gather clues, but they're guarding against me like I'm a thief. I can't find out anything."
"I get it," Sadie nodded. "It's good that you're trying."
Just then, the car pulled into Hillside Villa.
Gabriella arrived with the medical team to take Nathan to the medical room. Dahlia began examining and treating him, with the medical staff assisting.
Arya, hearing that Nathan had been rescued, rushed over, visibly excited.
Annika noticed Arya's energy and asked, surprised, "Didn't you stay up with Mary last night?"
"I had the others take over. I was patrolling the yard because I heard some noise and was worried something might happen," Arya replied.
"Did anything happen?" Annika asked urgently.
"No, just Coco barking a lot," Arya said.
Annika glanced at Sadie, who quickly said, "Arya, keep an eye on things here. Annika and I will go check on Mary."
"Got it."
The two left the examination room and headed to another medical room to see Mary.
As they approached the door, they heard Mary's hoarse voice, "Mommy, Mommy, I want Mommy."
Sadie's heart leaped. She hurriedly pushed the door open, and sure enough, Mary was awake.
Gabriella was there, conducting an examination.
"Mary!" Sadie exclaimed with joy, rushing forward to hug her.
"Auntie Sadie," Mary said weakly, but she was much better than before. "Auntie, my head hurts."
"It'll get better soon, Mary," Sadie kissed her forehead, her voice trembling with excitement. "Now that you're awake, in a few days, you'll be able to get out of bed and play with Emma, Donna, and Mia."
"Really?" Mary's face lit up at the thought of playing with Mia, Emma, and Donna. "That's great!"
"Mary, Mary!"
At that moment, Mia, Emma, and Donna burst into the room, thrilled.
"Mary's really awake!"
"This is amazing!"
The three children surrounded Mary, chattering non-stop.
"Mary, I saved a lot of candy for you."
"Mary, I picked some grapes yesterday. I'll make you some grape juice later."
"Mary, I made a little bag for you. It's a gift!"
"Thank you, Mia. Thank you, Emma, Donna."
Mary felt a warmth in her heart, her nose tingling and eyes welling up. "You guys are the best. Once I'm better, we can all play together."
"Yeah, yeah!"
The children happily gathered around Mary.
Sadie stepped aside, quietly observing the room.
There were no signs of anything unusual, but she was certain Riley had been there last night. Otherwise, Mary wouldn't have woken up so soon.
Gabriella approached, speaking in Sunvale, "Ms. James, the two female nurses on night duty fell asleep again last night. They're too irresponsible. You should reconsider keeping them."
"I understand. Thank you."
Sadie wasn't angry. Instead, a faint smile appeared on her lips, confirming her suspicion that Riley had indeed been there.
"Ms. James, I want to check on Andrew," Annika said, unable to wait any longer.
"I'll go with you."
Sadie instructed the medical staff to keep an eye on the children, then followed Annika to Andrew's room.
Gabriella joined them, explaining, "I examined him this morning. His condition is even better than yesterday. At this rate, he should wake up soon."
"Really? That's wonderful," Annika said, overjoyed.
"Ms. James, since you have such skilled people here, I don't think I need to stay," Gabriella suddenly said.
