Chapter 1583 Rebecca's Box
Sadie clutched her phone, feeling both helpless and frustrated.
Was there really no way out of this mess?
All she could do was hope that Riley could dodge Terry long enough to heal Micah.
Thinking about it, Sadie let out a heavy sigh.
"Ms. James!" Annika walked in with a bowl of porridge. "You haven't slept since yesterday. Drink this and get some rest."
"Alright." Sadie leaned back against the couch, exhausted. "I just sent Rebecca home. Did she make it back okay?"
"She got home a while ago. I was just about to tell you." Annika handed over a package from the cabinet. "Rebecca insisted you open this yourself. She mentioned it a bunch of times. Would you take a look?"
"Didn't she say it was just some treats for the kids? Why do I need to open it myself?"
Despite her exhaustion, Sadie opened the package.
Inside was a beautifully crafted food box filled with delicate pastries.
But beneath it, there was a wooden box.
When Sadie opened the wooden box, she was stunned.
These were items she had left with the Clemens Family two and a half years ago when she had her accident.
Inside were Edmond's will, a bank card he left her, the deed to the Roth Villa, and a ruby necklace Micah had given her.
With everything that had happened recently, Sadie hadn't even thought about these things, but Rebecca had.
Rebecca must have risked her life to save these items during the fire at Half Mountain Villa, just to find a chance to return them to her.
To outsiders, these items might seem insignificant.
But to Sadie, they held special meaning.
Two and a half years ago, Sadie had entrusted these items to Brenda.
Later, at her wedding, Raymond had sent her to H Country, and Brenda had taken the items with her.
Brenda had tragically died in H Country.
Poisoned and nearly dead on that rainy night, Sadie hadn't thought about these items at all.
Just then, Rebecca called. Sadie quickly answered, "Rebecca."
"Mrs. Clemens, did you get the items?"
Rebecca's voice was low, clearly indicating she was hiding while making the call.
"I did. Thank you, Rebecca."
Sadie was deeply moved.
The whole world was accusing her of murdering her husband and seizing the Clemens Family's assets, even claiming her three children weren't Micah's.
But Rebecca didn't believe any of it. She continued to trust Sadie unwaveringly.
"No need to thank me. It's what I should do," Rebecca said, her voice strained. "After your accident in H Country, Mr. Clemens brought this box back and entrusted it to me. He said you would return one day."
"The night before you and Mr. Clemens were supposed to get married, he called me over and instructed me to give you these items three days after the wedding if nothing happened."
"If something did happen, he told me to keep them safe and give them to you when the time was right. He said the items were valuable and you would need them, especially the..."
"Rebecca!"
Before Rebecca could finish, someone called her name on the other end, and she hurriedly hung up.
Sadie held her phone, feeling both excited and puzzled.
According to Rebecca, Micah had anticipated trouble the night before their wedding, which was why he gave such instructions.
But why hadn't Micah told her?
And what was the "especially the..." that Brenda had mentioned?
Sadie rummaged through the box and found the bank card her father had left her.
She remembered withdrawing some money to invest in Jonathan Chaseu's factory, and there was still over a hundred million dollars left.
Could that be what she meant?
