Chapter 1623 Helping
"In my room," Annika said quickly. "Andrew had the prescription on him before he got hurt. When he went to the hospital, I found it while changing his clothes. I was scared of losing it, so I stashed it in my cabinet."
"Dang, I just remembered this now," Sadie said, smacking her forehead. "I should've thought of it sooner."
"What?" Annika was momentarily confused before she realized. "You think Riley might come looking for that prescription?"
"Riley's been treating Micah for twenty days now. The reason she hasn't returned it yet is probably because she's hit a roadblock in the treatment. Dr. Henry's prescription could be crucial right now. She might be searching for it," Sadie speculated.
"I'll put the prescription back on Andrew tonight," Annika said immediately. "Didn't you say she'll be coming by in the next few days?"
Sadie nodded. "Mary hasn't recovered yet. Riley will definitely come."
"That's good, we still have a chance," Annika sighed in relief. "I got Jesse's location update. His men are escorting Nathan back to Hillside Villa. They're still in the Biston area."
"Step on it, let's get there fast."
"Got it."
At dawn, Sadie met up with Jesse's men at the Biston-Newark border and received Nathan.
Nathan was frightened and injured, and had already fallen asleep.
Seeing him covered in wounds, Sadie felt a pang of sorrow and hugged him tightly, tears streaming down her face.
"Ms. James, we've checked him over. The kid's caught a cold and has a high fever. He also has some minor injuries, but nothing too serious. He should be taken to the hospital right away," the bodyguard reported.
"Tell Gabriella to get ready. We're heading back immediately," Sadie instructed Annika.
"Got it." Annika called Gabriella and then turned to Sadie. "Ms. James, Gabriella said she's not skilled in pediatrics. It's best to call Dr. Rey."
"At this hour, Dahlia might not be able to come," Sadie said, feeling a bit troubled but still dialing Dahlia's number.
The call connected quickly, and Dahlia's voice came through. "Ms. James?"
"Dahlia, we just rescued Nathan. He's got a fever. Can you come over to check on him? Are you available?" Sadie asked, summoning her courage.
"Nathan's been rescued? That's wonderful!"
Dahlia exclaimed, clearly excited. "I've been worried about this, but I've been under restrictions and couldn't help. Of course, I'll come. Where are you now?"
"On our way back to Hillside Villa."
"I'll be at Hillside Villa in an hour. Tell me his symptoms."
"Okay."
Sadie brought Nathan back to Hillside Villa, where Dahlia had been waiting at the intersection for a while.
Seeing their car, she quickly ran out of the woods with her medical kit. "Ms. James!"
"Dr. Rey," Annika said, opening the car door to let Dahlia in.
Dahlia opened her medical kit in the car and examined Nathan.
"It looks like it's just a severe cold and some minor injuries. We'll do a more thorough check once we're home."
"Thank you," Sadie said, noticing how much weight Dahlia had lost and feeling guilty. "You snuck out to come here, didn't you? If they find out, it could be trouble."
"I don't care about that right now. The kid is what's important," Dahlia said. "Rylan's locked up and can't help at all. If I don't do something for you, you'll be fighting this battle alone."
"Thank you!" Sadie said, deeply grateful.
"We're all in this together. No need to thank me," Dahlia said urgently. "By the way, what about Noah?"
"Noah hasn't been rescued yet," Sadie said, her heart aching at the thought. "We only managed to save Nathan this time."
