"What do we do now?" Chloe asked, her face showing a mix of worry and frustration. "Is the company really going to..."
Before she could finish, the office door swung open.
Alan and Nicholas strode in confidently. Nicholas, puffing on a cigar, plopped down on the couch and gave Alan a knowing look.
Alan asked coldly, "Ryan, the meeting's about to start. Can we talk?"
"What do you want to say?" Ryan glared at him, his eyes icy. "Alan."
Alan didn't bother to hide his intentions. He spoke directly, "You see the situation now. Sadie is no longer useful. Why struggle alone? Why not sell us your five percent of the shares? We'll offer you a high price."
Ryan spat at him, furious. "Who do you think you are? Trying to take advantage of me? Let me tell you, no matter what you offer, I won't sell my shares."
"The company is about to be taken over. What's the point of holding on?" Nicholas blew a smoke ring and smiled at Ryan. "Why not take the money and enjoy your retirement?"
"What do you mean?" Ryan was taken aback. He pointed at Nicholas and questioned Alan, "You... you didn't transfer your shares to him, did you?"
Alan lowered his head, silent.
This wasn't his original plan. He had allied with Nicholas to seek revenge, promising him some benefits in return.
But he never imagined Nicholas would be so ambitious. He also didn't foresee being completely controlled by Nicholas, with no room to resist.
"You bastard!"
Ryan, enraged, swung his hand to hit Alan.
Nicholas's men immediately grabbed Ryan's wrist and coldly pushed him away.
Ryan stumbled, nearly falling, but Chloe caught him just in time.
"He's my son-in-law now. No one else has the right to discipline him," Nicholas said coldly to Ryan. "Hand over your shares willingly, and I'll give you a fair market price."
"Get out! Get out of here!!" Ryan shouted angrily, pointing at the door.
Nicholas narrowed his eyes, his gaze chilling.
His two men started walking towards Ryan, their eyes filled with menace.
"What are you doing?" Chloe asked, her eyes wide with shock.
Alan couldn't stand it anymore and whispered, "Ryan is a founding member of Clemens Group. All the tech relies on him. Without him, Clemens Group would suffer greatly."
"Do you really think I want to run Clemens Group?" Nicholas laughed mockingly. "Holding onto Clemens Group is pointless. I'd rather sell it."
Alan's eyes widened in disbelief. He finally understood that Nicholas was only after money. Once he took over Clemens Group, he would sell it off and disappear with the profits.
The two men grabbed Ryan, ready to rough him up.
"This is too much! Don't you care about the law?" Chloe tried to intervene but was shoved to the ground.
At that moment, the door suddenly opened, and a clear, cold voice rang out, "Stop!"
Everyone looked up, stunned.
Who was this short girl?
The girl standing there wore a professional outfit, looking like a secretary. She had a mask on, hiding her face, but her beautiful, expressive eyes were striking.
"Get out!"
The bodyguard at the door reached out to push her, but before he could touch her, he suddenly started convulsing and fell to the ground in pain.
