Chapter 1653 Hurry Up and Get It Done
"Fine, whatever," Riley said, shrugging. "Just get the kid out of there. I don't want Mary freaking out."
"Riley..."
"You can handle it in three days, right?"
Riley didn't wait for Tristan to answer. She glanced at the torn calendar on the wall. "Perfect timing. Mary will be better in three days and can see Noah."
"You insufferable..."
"Get to it. Bye!"
With that, Riley hung up the phone and immediately destroyed the SIM card to prevent any tracking.
"Feel better now?" Riley shot a look at Micah, her tone surprisingly kind. "No need to keep tabs on this one. Consider it a favor for my kid."
"At least you have some decency."
Micah realized that despite Riley's greed and mischief, she had a sense of loyalty and clear-cut emotions. Still, her audacity in speaking to Tristan like that was astonishing.
"Enough talk." Riley grabbed a syringe with one hand and reached for Micah's pants with the other. "Time for your shot!"
"Don't you dare!" Micah shouted, panicking.
"What's the big deal?" Riley frowned. "You've been out cold for so long, you think I haven't seen your butt already?"
"You..."
"A healer's heart is impartial. To me, all butts are the same, no big deal!"
As she spoke, Riley yanked down Micah's pants and jabbed the large syringe into him with a rough thrust.
The combined shame and pain nearly broke Micah. In that moment, he had a thought: once he recovered, should he silence this she-devil for good?
If this embarrassing episode ever got out, he'd be a laughingstock. Plus, it would save him a fortune.
"Feeling pain now means your body's recovering. A while back, you didn't even flinch when I gave you shots. Your butt was like a pincushion, and you didn't feel a thing."
Micah stared blankly at the ceiling, tears welling up inside. A real man, he thought, should follow through on his threats. Riley couldn't leave Frost Peak Mountain alive!
"What's with that look? You seem a bit murderous."
Riley noticed Micah's eyes and sneered. "Thinking of silencing me? Childish. Even if you recover, you can't beat me. Besides, once you're halfway better, I'm sending you back."
"Not only are you a healer, but you can read minds too?" Micah glared at her coldly. "No wonder you have Tristan wrapped around your finger."
"Don't mention that jerk."
Riley's mood soured at the name, and her hands became even rougher.
Micah gritted his teeth against the pain, his nerves hypersensitive after being unconscious for so long. Riley's touch was anything but gentle.
"Alright, shot's done. Time for your herbal soak and acupuncture," Riley said as she busied herself. "I wonder if that jerk has sent anyone to rescue the kid."
"Terry, you're coming over?"
In Biston, Sadie was surprised to get the call. "You're helping rescue Noah? Tristan sent you? Great, I'll send the address right away."
Sadie quickly sent the location, feeling a surge of relief. Tristan's two best aides, Jesse with his sharpshooting and Terry with his scouting skills, meant Noah would be rescued soon.
"I knew Mr. James wouldn't just stand by," Annika said, equally relieved. "With Terry here, Noah will be safe in no time."
"Absolutely. I need to send Tristan a thank-you message."
