Chapter 1646 Cold Light
"Of course we need to," Riley suddenly remembered. "Oh right, if you die, who am I supposed to get my medical expenses from?"
As she spoke, Riley's brow furrowed, and she began to mutter to herself.
"Looking at Sadie's situation, she probably can't even take care of herself, let alone give me money. Besides, if I ask her for money, what if that jerk Tristan catches me?"
"So, you have to cure me to get that money," Micah said urgently. "This prescription is written on oilskin paper. If you wipe it with a special solution, you'll be able to read the text."
"Right," Riley picked up the prescription. "But wiping the prescription will cost you an extra ten million dollars!"
Micah's eyes widened in shock. "Why don't you just rob a bank?"
"Are you kidding? Robbing a bank wouldn't get me this much," Riley shot him a look.
Micah was left speechless. She had a point; robbing a bank wouldn't be as profitable as this.
"Ten million dollars isn't easy to earn," Riley began to complain. "I have all these medicines here, but I need to find the solution to treat your prescription. That means going down the mountain to the hospital, which is a hassle."
"Plus, I might run into Tristan's people, and if they catch me, I'll be in big trouble."
Micah closed his eyes and said weakly, "Fine, ten million dollars it is. Just hurry up."
Riley's face lit up with joy. She immediately took out her ledger to record the transaction, then grabbed Micah's finger, bit it to draw blood, and stamped it.
"If this keeps up, my entire fortune will end up in your hands," Micah said, looking at the wound on his thumb with a hint of sadness.
"Hard work pays off!" Riley said cheerfully, her smile radiant. "I deserve this!"
With that, Riley packed her things and headed down the mountain.
Micah was left alone in the cabin. He looked at his stiff body and immobile limbs, feeling a deep sense of despair.
That afternoon, he had coaxed Riley into helping him with the computer for a while, but she soon got tired and refused to help.
He couldn't move on his own, and at this rate, he wouldn't be able to accomplish anything.
If he had a high-end smartphone, he could use the voice assistant to operate it. But Riley, in her frugality, had bought the cheapest phone available.
When he saw the phone, he was stunned and questioned her about why she didn't buy a better one.
She had the audacity to say, "We have a computer, why do we need a phone with so many features?"
So now, he couldn't even use the phone.
He could only wait until his hands were functional to make a call.
Riley drove her beat-up van down the mountain and randomly chose a private clinic to buy the medicine.
As she was about to leave, she noticed a familiar figure.
"Is this clinic reliable?"
"Don't worry, Mr. Clemens. The owner is a friend of mine, totally trustworthy. He just runs a small business, so Mr. Graham won't even notice him. We're just getting a blood test, we'll be out in no time."
"True."
Alan took off his mask, looked around to make sure no one was following, and quickly walked inside.
He didn't notice the petite girl at the corner of the hallway, squinting her eyes at him.
"This guy looks exactly like the one I picked up," Riley muttered to herself. She remembered Micah mentioning that someone might be impersonating him, teaming up with a guy named Nicholas to steal the Clemens Family's assets.
So, this person must be the imposter.
Thinking about how her friend Mary was injured because of these bastards, Riley's eyes filled with a cold, steely determination.
