Chapter 1611 Prescription

"Dr. Henry passed away," Micah said softly. "You didn't know?"

"What?" Riley's voice was filled with shock. "Are you serious? When did this happen?"

"Two months ago," Micah replied. "He passed away in Newark. Sadie and I were with him at the end and took care of his funeral at Mount Avalis."

Riley's eyes widened in disbelief. "Hubert is gone? He really passed away?"

"I'm sorry," Micah said, noticing Riley's emotional reaction. Despite everything, Riley still had feelings for Hubert. He had raised her and taught her everything he knew, a bond that time couldn't erase.

"He never reached out to me before he died," Riley said, lowering her head, feeling a pang of sadness. "Was he still mad at me?"

"I don't think so," Micah recalled the events leading up to Hubert's death. "Before he passed, he wrote a prescription and told me to find you. He said you were the only one who could save me."

"Did he really say that?" Riley was taken aback.

"Yeah," Micah nodded. "That's why I've been sending people to look for you. We mistakenly thought you were a middle-aged man, so we were searching in the wrong direction."

"What did he mean by that?" Riley frowned. "He never really approved of me."

"Sadie's father had helped Dr. Henry before, so he traveled far and wide to treat her and her child despite his old age. Because of that, he was kind to me as well. Before he died, my condition had worsened, and the poison had reached my bone marrow. It was critical.

"He used all his energy to write a prescription but didn't have the strength to treat me himself. So he asked me to find you. I think it means he finally acknowledged your medical skills and respected you as a person."

Micah's words were sincere.

Hearing this, Riley felt moved. "When I wanted to leave to study medicine, Hubert scolded me harshly, saying I was ungrateful and that our country's medical practices were the best in the world. He believed that if I focused on them, I could become a renowned doctor.

"But I was convinced that medicine needed to incorporate knowledge from around the world to truly excel. We had different philosophies and couldn't convince each other, so we parted ways.

"I remember it was raining heavily the day I left. He wouldn't let me take anything from the house, so I walked away in the rain. He warned me not to mention his name if I faced difficulties outside.

"I swore to return as the best doctor in the world to prove myself to him. But before I could come back, he was already..."

Riley sighed. "I wonder if Hubert ever thought of me, and if he did, whether he was angry or proud."

"He was definitely proud," Micah reassured her. "Otherwise, he wouldn't have asked me to find you."

"That makes sense," Riley said with a bitter smile. "Alright, back to the matter at hand. Where's the prescription?"

"Andrew has it," Micah said confidently. "When you go tonight, confirm if the person you're treating is Andrew. If it is, cure him, and you'll find the prescription."

"How do you know I'm going tonight?" Riley raised an eyebrow.

"Mary is sick. No matter how skilled you are, it will take a few days to treat her. Even if she's cured, you'll want to check on the child."

Micah sounded weary. "Riley, I'm weak, and talking is exhausting. Please, don't ask unnecessary questions."
