Chapter 1658 Overjoyed
"So, do you really want to go back to Tristan?" Micah's tone got serious. "If it's just a fight, there's no need to be so stubborn. When two people are together, they should understand and tolerate each other."
"What do you know?" Riley snapped, feeling irritated by the topic. "Anyway, I absolutely can't let the James Family catch me."
"Alright." Seeing her firm stance, Micah didn't push further. "My life is in your hands now. I won't let anyone take you away, you can count on that!"
"I'll think about it." Riley didn't give him a direct answer. "Now lie down, I need to apply the medicine. We still have to visit Mary tonight."
"When you went to see Mary, did you see my wife and kids?"
Micah missed Sadie and the children dearly.
"I heard Sadie's voice the first night, but she wasn't home the other nights. Nathan has been sick since he was rescued. I checked on him, it's nothing serious, just needs regular treatment, so I didn't intervene. Mia spends every day with my girls, Emma and Donna. She really cares for them, and I like her a lot."
Riley chatted casually while tending to Micah's wounds.
Hearing this, Micah felt relieved and analyzed, "Sadie probably knows you visit at night and avoids you on purpose. She must be out looking for Noah."
"Speaking of which," Riley paused her actions and asked seriously, "your eldest son is still missing. Will tomorrow's board meeting be at risk?"
"No one can threaten me!" Micah's eyes flashed with determination.
"Men are all the same!" Riley scoffed, continuing to apply the medicine. Suddenly, she asked, "By the way, does Sadie listen to you or Tristan?"
"Of course, she listens to me." Micah understood her concern. "Don't worry, in my house, I call the shots!"
"Really?"
Riley still felt uneasy, contemplating whether to go with Micah to the Clemens Group tomorrow. If she didn't go, how would she get back her assets?
But if she went, what if the James Family captured her? Was Micah's promise genuine?
However, seeing his confident demeanor, he did seem like the head of the household. If the James Family tried to take her, he should be able to protect her, right?
"Don't worry." Micah saw through her thoughts and assured her confidently, "Once I'm healed, there's no way I'll let the James Family take you. If you leave, what will I do?!"
"True." Riley nodded firmly. "Alright, I'll reluctantly go with you. But after you settle things tomorrow, you need to give me the money first."
"Half my assets aren't something you can just hand over. There are procedures..."
"I don't care," Riley interrupted, demanding, "I just want the money. No money, no deal!"
"Okay, okay!" Micah quickly conceded. "I'll give it to you."
"That's more like it." Riley beamed, rummaging through the room.
"You haven't finished applying the medicine. What are you looking for?" Micah frowned at her.
"A bag."
"A bag for what?"
"To carry the money, of course."
Micah suddenly realized something. Riley had no concept of money. She probably thought half his assets were just a few billion dollars.
And she believed those billions could fit into a few bags. She couldn't even count past a hundred without a calculator, let alone understand billions.
So, maybe giving her a few million dollars would be enough to satisfy her.
This discovery made Micah overjoyed.
