Chapter 1552 Knowing Full Well
Micah thought about it and realized Sadie was right.
The battle for identity was still unclear, and everything was uncertain.
Besides, she was out in the open while his people were in the shadows. There was no reason for Sadie to poison him now.
Otherwise, in a situation like today, she would be harming herself.
So, the only possibility was that the person behind him bribed the lab technician to tamper with the test results, or perhaps bribed someone else to alter the samples.
In any case, he wasn't poisoned; the problem was with the report.
"Don't you know if you're poisoned or not?"
Sadie suddenly thought of something, squinting her eyes and speaking meaningfully.
"You've been back for a few days. Have you had any symptoms of poisoning? If not, you should consider whether you were poisoned before you came back."
Micah's body shook, his eyes widened in shock and fear.
He suddenly realized it might be that person...
No, it couldn't be.
"From what I understand, if someone is poisoned and shows no symptoms, it means it's a slow-acting poison. Slow-acting poison isn't administered just once or twice; it's ingested slowly over time..."
Before Sadie could finish, Micah stood up and strode towards the bathroom.
Sadie watched his back, a mocking smile playing on her lips.
"Ms. James, why did you say that?"
Arya leaned in and whispered in her ear. "Some slow-acting poisons don't need multiple doses; they just take longer to manifest, like the one Mr. Clemens had."
"If I didn't say that, how could I provoke him?" Sadie responded coldly. "Look, he's already scared out of his wits. He's definitely going to confront that person."
"Right, I've already installed a micro-camera in the lounge." Arya whispered, covering her mouth. "As soon as he contacts that person, we can intercept clues and use them to locate the other party."
"Good job." Sadie picked up her coffee cup and sipped leisurely.
Rylan and Dahlia exchanged a glance, their expressions complex.
Dahlia wanted to say something to Sadie several times but held back.
Rylan remained silent.
After a while, Micah emerged from the lounge, his face ashen, eyes filled with anger, which quickly turned to unease.
He gripped his phone tightly, almost breaking it.
"Can't get through, huh?" Sadie saw through him immediately. "That person is refusing to contact you?"
Micah froze, looking at Sadie without saying a word.
Both of them knew the truth.
Micah was well aware that Sadie knew his secret and had even guessed he had someone guiding him.
But they had to keep pretending, continuing this charade.
"That person is really something," Sadie said sincerely. "At first, I thought his plan to have you impersonate Micah was too crude."
Micah was stunned. "You..."
"But then I realized his strategy was very clever, each step meticulously calculated."
Sadie took a sip of coffee and continued.
"Before our wedding, he had you infiltrate Hillside Villa to commit arson and murder. Then, while the Clemens Group was in chaos, he spread various rumors."
"He said I was acting on my brother's orders, seeking revenge; that I was trying to seize the Clemens Group's assets by harming Micah; that my children weren't his."
"All of this was laying the groundwork for today."
