Chapter 1638 Surpass You

"Yeah, yeah," the board members grumbled, clearly frustrated.

The Clemens Group's fate was tied to their own, and they were desperate to figure out what was going on.

With Nicholas out and Sadie stepping in, everyone was dying to know how much cash Sadie would walk away with according to the agreement.

Was she really worried about the Clemens Group, or was she just after the Clemens Family's fortune?

"Chloe, get the accounting team in here," Ryan ordered.

"On it," Chloe said, quickly summoning the VIC Group's accounting team.

The accountants first went over the agreement with Anthony and the others, then started crunching the numbers on all the earnings attributed to Micah over the past two years and nine months.

A dozen people were in the conference room, working away in front of the board members.

The board members waited anxiously, their nerves on edge.

Alan sat nearby, looking uneasy and checking his watch every few minutes.

An hour passed, then two.

The accounting team was still at it.

Alan started to sweat. If it was taking this long to calculate Micah's earnings, it had to be a massive amount, way more than he had imagined.

The other shareholders were catching on too, and the tension in the room was palpable.

Declan couldn't hold back any longer. "Silas, if she takes all that money, won't the Clemens Group be in serious trouble?"

Silas gave him a look but stayed silent.

Sure, Sadie could take the money and leave according to the agreement, but if she did, the Clemens Group's cash flow could be in real jeopardy.

After all, it was a team of over a dozen accountants and eight lawyers, working for two hours and still not done.

"This is like trading one problem for another," an old board member sighed.

The others were just as uneasy, worried that Sadie taking the assets would shake the Clemens Group to its core.

"Now do you get it?" Alan sneered, "Bringing Mr. Graham onto the board was supposed to be for the long haul, but you all insisted on helping Sadie grab the money. Happy now?"

"Wasn't it you who signed the contract?" Ryan shot back, "She's your ex-wife. If you hadn't caused so much trouble, we wouldn't be in this mess."

Alan was momentarily speechless.

He was using Micah's identity now, so he had to take the blame. His mockery was just making him look foolish.

He had no choice but to suck it up.

Alan, filled with frustration, stopped talking. He remembered Nicholas's advice to keep quiet and say less, which seemed right.

Whatever he said now would be wrong.

Just then, Nicholas called, and Alan quickly stepped aside to answer.

"How's it going? Have they figured it out yet? How much?" Nicholas was eager to know.

"They're still working on it."

Alan glanced at the accounting team, his brow furrowing.

Each person had a computer and two phones to contact banks. Two and a half hours had passed, and they still hadn't finished calculating two years' worth of income.

How much money was this?

"Still not done?" Nicholas sounded anxious, "I just checked, and most of VIC Group's income is concentrated in the past two years. And for the Clemens Group, those past two years were also its most prosperous period, so..."

"You mean..."

"According to the agreement, Sadie might take a huge sum. If the group can't pull together such a large cash flow immediately, it will have to convert to shares. In other words, she could very well become the Clemens Group's second-largest shareholder, maybe even surpassing you!"

Blimey, My Kid's the Heir to the Billionaire Boss!
