Chloe wasted no time in calling the reporters.
The shareholders and executives in the room immediately voiced their objections.
"What's going on? This is a board meeting. How can you let reporters in?"
"Did you get Mr. Clemens' approval before you spoke?"
"Exactly!"
"Before, when Mr. Clemens wasn't around, you were in charge, and we had no complaints. But now that he's back, you should know your place."
Declan was the one who spoke, his words dripping with skepticism and dissatisfaction, even carrying a hint of coercion.
Sadie glanced at Declan and addressed everyone politely, "The reason for inviting the reporters is to clarify everything in front of everyone, to avoid any further suspicion."
"Mr. Clemens should be the one to decide that."
The board members protested one after another.
They didn't actually think Sadie was wrong, just that she shouldn't have made the decision on her own.
"Sadie's opinion is my opinion."
Micah finally spoke up, albeit belatedly, and he did so with a cautious look at Sadie, as if trying to read her expression.
Seeing this, everyone was even more displeased, but since Micah had spoken, they didn't dare to say anything further.
Soon, the reporters came in, and the questions they pursued were about the recent rumors and Sadie's relationship with Masson.
They didn't mention Micah and Olivia at all.
Micah answered according to the way Sadie had instructed him beforehand, handling it quite smoothly.
In front of the reporters, he responded naturally and skillfully, without the anxiety he showed in front of the board members.
The press conference boiled down to three main points.
First, as a husband, he absolutely trusted Sadie and believed that her relationship with Masson was purely platonic, with no boundaries crossed.
Second, he firmly stated that he and his wife were united, with no divided loyalties.
Third, he solemnly declared that due to his health issues, he had voluntarily transferred his assets to Sadie, entrusting her with the management of the group.
These three points were made very clearly, without any hesitation.
The other shareholders and executives present didn't show any signs of relief upon hearing this; instead, they seemed even more worried.
The reporters wanted to ask more questions, but Sadie gave a signal, and Chloe promptly and politely escorted them out.
At that moment, a reporter suddenly shouted, "Mr. Clemens, is it true that Ms. James is controlling you?"
The room fell silent instantly, and everyone looked at Micah and Sadie.
Micah's reaction was neither as commanding nor as composed as usual; he seemed flustered and nervous, as if someone had hit a nerve.
"It's said that you were poisoned, which is why you fell ill, and that the poison was a snake venom concocted by the James Family. In other words, the James Family poisoned you to control you."
The reporter continued to press, "Is this true?"
The words sent chills down everyone's spine.
Micah's face turned pale, and he looked visibly uneasy.
The board members and executives were also frightened, their faces turning white.
Declan and a few other board members from headquarters immediately surrounded Micah and questioned him, "Mr. Clemens, is this true?"
"Mr. Clemens, don't be afraid. With so many of us here, the James Family wouldn't dare do anything to you."
"Mr. Clemens, please tell us the truth."
"Mr. Clemens!"
Faced with the barrage of questions, Micah kept his head down, saying nothing, looking extremely nervous and sweating profusely.
Sadie narrowed her eyes, staring coldly at him.
She finally understood their strategy—it was indeed clever.
"Let's get these reporters out of here."
At this point, Ryan spoke up.
Chloe immediately had the security guards escort the reporters out.
But the reporters continued to take photos, capturing Micah's nervous and flustered state, seemingly confirming their suspicions.
