Chapter 1618 Terrifying Hypocrisy

"Yeah, I didn't think you'd remember."

Olivia looked a bit surprised, realizing she might have overthought things and didn't dare to doubt "Micah."

"Of course, I remember," Alan said with a gentle smile. "Every moment with Ms. Graham is unforgettable."

Olivia didn't respond, and the atmosphere grew a bit tense.

In the bathroom, Sadie frowned. Did Nicholas tell Alan in advance?

But why would he help Alan deceive his own daughter?

Just then, Nicholas cleared his throat and said with a smile, "I have some matters to attend to. You two take your time."

"Dad," Olivia seemed a bit uneasy.

"Be good," Nicholas's words carried a hint of pressure. "Mr. Clemens is divorced now and single. Our families will soon be collaborating in business. It's good for you two to get to know each other better and build a friendship."

"Mr. Graham is right," Alan quickly added. "Ms. Graham, we're old friends. No need to be so formal."

"Mr. Clemens is right," Olivia didn't refuse anymore.

"Have a good talk."

Nicholas gave Olivia a deep look and then cast a meaningful glance at Alan before finally walking away.

Soon, Sadie in the bathroom heard the sound of the door opening and closing.

She knew Nicholas had left.

He had deliberately brought Olivia here, partly to catch Alan in the act if he misbehaved, and partly to offer Olivia to Alan, hoping to secure a beneficial alliance between the two families.

What a calculating father.

For the sake of power and wealth, Nicholas was willing to use his own daughter as a bargaining chip.

"Have a seat, Ms. Graham."

After Nicholas left, Alan visibly relaxed, poured Olivia a glass of wine, and started drinking himself.

"Mr. Clemens, you're still recovering. You should drink less," Olivia advised with concern. She had now dismissed all her doubts and no longer questioned Alan's identity.

"I rarely drink, but I've been feeling down lately," Alan sighed dramatically. "A lot has happened at home."

"I heard," Olivia asked cautiously. "About Sadie's child... Are you sure it's not yours? Could there be some misunderstanding?"

Hearing this, Sadie felt a warmth in her heart. She hadn't expected Olivia to believe her.

"I wish it were a misunderstanding," Alan said angrily. "But the facts are right in front of me. I can't deny reality."

"Is there any chance the test was wrong?" Olivia asked again. "I just feel like something's off about it..."

"The test was overseen by Silas and Ryan personally. There's no way it could be wrong," Alan interrupted her, feigning sadness. "Let's not talk about this anymore. It's pointless."

"Sorry," Olivia changed the subject. "So, you and Ms. James, are you really over?"

"We're divorced. What do you think?"

As Alan spoke, he glanced at the bathroom. He knew Sadie could hear him, but given the situation, he had no choice.

He also knew that Nicholas hadn't really left. He was probably outside, monitoring the room.

He might have even planted a listening device on Olivia. Nicholas could be hearing every word of their conversation.

"Alright," Olivia said, not as happy as Alan had expected. Instead, she seemed conflicted. "I thought you two were really in love."

"We were, but she betrayed me and tried to harm me. How could I continue to love her?"

Alan gritted his teeth as he said this, fearing Sadie might burst out of the bathroom.

However, Sadie had no such impulse. She just found Alan's hypocrisy terrifying.
