Chapter 1565 Bewildered
The system tracking Nicholas's State ID and phone number had suddenly gone dark. Both numbers were deactivated in an instant, and now, no matter what Ryan tried, he couldn't reconnect.
All leads had gone cold.
Sadie, along with Rylan, Annika, and the others, had been searching outside all day and well into the night, but there was still no news.
She tried calling the number Olivia had given her to contact Nicholas, but the phone indicated it was a disconnected number.
Clearly, Nicholas had realized his number was compromised and took action.
At midnight, Sadie stood on the seawall, facing the ocean breeze, staring blankly at the sea. Her mood was like a sailboat adrift on the ocean, lost and directionless.
During this time, she had been holding on tightly, driven by a firm belief in protecting the Clemens Family.
No matter how tired she was or how many difficulties she faced, as long as she returned home and saw the innocent smiles of her children, Sadie would find hope again.
But now, the company had fallen into the hands of the wrong people, Micah was still missing, and even the children were gone.
Sadie felt like a complete failure.
She had thought she could handle Alan, the imposter, and the mastermind behind him, but now she realized she had been too arrogant.
The war had just begun, and she had already lost miserably.
Nicholas hadn't even shown his face, and she had already lost her trump card. She had no idea what kind of storm she would face next.
At this moment, Sadie's heart felt lonely and shattered.
"Ms. James." Rylan approached, draping a coat over Sadie's shoulders and speaking softly to comfort her. "Don't worry, we'll find a way."
"A way? What way?" Sadie smiled bitterly. "My mind is blank right now. I can't think of anything."
"We could ask Mr. James for help."
"Forget it." Sadie sighed deeply. "Tristan has already returned to Country E. He needs to start his counterattack against the James Family traitors. How can I bother him now?"
"Then..."
"Nicholas hasn't contacted me and even deactivated his phone number. Clearly, he doesn't intend to confront me directly. The more he avoids me, the more passive I become."
Sadie hung her head, filled with worry.
"Maybe we could try calling Ms. Graham? Ask her to contact her father?" Annika suggested tentatively.
"Are you crazy?" Sadie frowned. "Olivia helped us today, which already alerted Nicholas and angered him. She's definitely under close watch now. Contacting her would only make things worse for her."
"Then what should we do?" Annika was at a loss.
"Ms. James, I think Silas and Ryan still believe in you," Rylan said cautiously. "They've been in touch with me, asking about the kids. Maybe we could discuss it with them?"
"Talking to them won't help. They're barely managing the company as it is. They can't handle this, and besides, it's not their area of expertise."
"Let's just go back."
Sadie had no other options and tried to calm herself down.
"I don't think they'll harm Noah and Nathan for now. They need them to threaten me. Let's go home and wait for them to contact me."
"I'll keep trying to find a way," Rylan said firmly. "Even if I have to turn Newark upside down, I'll find Noah and Nathan."
"Thank you!" Sadie patted his shoulder and said to Annika, "Let's go to the hospital."
"Okay."
