CHAPTER TEN

I woke up groggily, my dreams consisting of the tunnels I and my late brother Brendan used to take Roe to explore.
I turned around, expecting to see Anna’s snoring face but instead I was met with a totally different view.

Oh, I totally forgot I was no longer living a normal life. As I turned away from the sleeping Prince, I realized how my life had changed so much in the last twenty four hours.
I looked out and it was still night time. I slowly lifted the tail that was still coiled around me so I could go pee but I got drawn into Xavier’s hard and sculpted chest. This sent my mind into overdrive and I had to shake my head physically to stop such crazy, wanton thoughts. He was the enemy and nothing of such was going to happen.
I'll find a way out of this situation and I'll run back to my family before he's able to carry out his plans.
But first, I needed to get out of this bed, my bladder was very full.
Gradually and slowly, to avoid waking him up, I removed the arm that was on my lap and rolled out from under his tail.

“Tess..” I heard from him and I froze in shock.
Was he dreaming about me right now? If it was someone else, I totally would be freaking excited because that was another level of hot but it wasn't so I tamed my wildly beating heart and went into the huge bathroom.

I did my business but stayed in there for a little longer, trying to get my mind centered.
I mean, if I succeed in running away, where would I go? This palace, sorry mansion was huge but I knew my face was plastered on the minds of every servant here. That'll make it impossible to escape from here so whenever I'll try, it must be when we are outside.
But it wouldn't hurt to get a lay of the land so I got out of the bathroom and went out of the room.

The moment I came out of the door, a bulky soldier was standing on attention right in front of the door

“Wait, do you like, stand that way for the entire night? Don't you get tired?” I asked.

“I'm capable of standing for days on end, Mistress,”

“Don't call me that. My name is Tessa. I can't sleep so I'm taking a walk around so don't worry about me, okay?” I Informed him just in case my absence got him in trouble. I already got that driver sacked, I wouldn't want to endanger another person's livelihood.

He nodded and I began walking down the stairs and to my shock, the whole place still looked alive.

“Does no one sleep in this mansion? Y'all look like you took a dozen cups of coffee,”

“Yes ma'am. We have to be ready for whatever Master needs,” one of the Moderate aliens answered, their split tongue giving me the heebie-jeebies as always. They were built in a weird snake-human form that gave them a perfect look.

“Why not have two or three persons on standby at certain times so others can sleep and if he needs anyone, they call them? This is not good for your health,” I suggested, genuinely concerned. I loved my sleep and the idea of staying awake all night wasn't something I was excited about.

“But what if he found out?” An XYZ whispered and I could smell his fear even with my very normal nose.

“If no one talks, how would he? Anyways, I'm feeling like all the coffee in the world is in my system so I'm taking a walk. Does anyone feel up to giving me a tour?” I asked with a smile.

“I'll take you. Let them take a break. My cousin can be a taskmaster sometimes,” I heard from the other stairs and I looked up, seeking the voice. It was the guy whose kindness saved me yesterday. His earpiece was in my bag and I felt guilty for not even asking for his name.

“Can't sleep too?” I replied when I realized I had kept him waiting for a response.

“Comes with the territory. Each time I'm somewhere new, I find it hard to sleep for the first few days. My cousin definitely didn't do a good job if you are still unable to sleep so come, let's get some fatigue into you,” he said with a smile and took my hands and walked out.

I noticed the servants had already begun drawing up a roaster for their sleeping times. I'm happy I was able to help.

“So, how was your first night as the queen of two worlds? Should I be expecting a nephew soon?” He asked, and I felt a shiver run down my spine.
I loved the sound that came from him but I also noticed it came with strong, detectable jealousy and I didn't beat around the bush.

“You sound jealous. What is so special about me that he's so adamant about keeping me? You even bid against him so hard that the money went as high as a hundred million dollars. I don't get it,”

He opened the huge doors for me to pass before following after me.

“I don't know how you don't see it yourself, Tess. You are different, intelligent and I feel something for you that I've never felt for any woman in all my years of traversing this plane. I guess my cousin feels the same way which is why he's acting like a prick. He doesn't like being out of control. This is the biggest greenhouse in this side of the world. It's my little project for Xavier. I collect flowers and plants from different parts of the world and try to make sure it survives here,” he said as we stopped by the most beautiful greenhouse I've ever seen; well, the only one I've seen physically.

This was built with a wooden framework and the lighting was bright, you could see everything even though it was night. The glasses shine, reflecting the moonlight, it seemed it was cleaned every day. Decorative stones were lined along the wall path and I was so mesmerized by the sight that I had nearly forgotten his confession about his feelings for me.

“I really don't believe in the concept of love at first sight. In fact, it doesn't exist. You have to know a person at least a little bit and not on the dais of a bidding event, before falling for them. Is that an alien thing?” I asked as we moved away from the beautiful greenhouse.

When we got to the pool area, I knew I had to take a swim here before any attempt at escaping. It was huge, and fell into a waterfall that I didn't know where it led to.
The water was crystal clear and I wished I could dive into it.

“What is stopping you?” He asked, startling me.

“Did I say that out loud?”

“No dear but I could see it in your eyes. Go ahead, in fact, I'll join you. It's been a while,” he said and I thought he was joking but he was taking off his shirt, and maybe it was my imagination but he was giving me a strip show.

If there's anything these aliens and human modified beings had above us normal humans, it was their physical looks. They didn't even need to go to the gym like the ancient men did. They were born with an insanely high metabolism and they just turned you to mush when you allowed yourself to stare too long.

Like me right now. Yea, I was a goner and I hated to admit it but my panties were already wetter than the pool he was wading into.
I watched him like a creep as he swam laps in the water and finally stopped at the spot where I stood, gawking at his obsession worthy body. He was beautiful, his blue eyes and the way his lips were full in the perfect most kissable way had me squeezing my thighs.
He groaned and went back into the water and began swimming aggressively.
It felt like he was trying to drown something in the water but I couldn't figure out if it was his feelings or my delusions.
