CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND TWELVE
Immediately, he snapped out of my mind, and I opened my eyes too.
“What's wrong?” I asked, confused at his actions.
“What really happened down there? And don't you dare lie to me because what I just saw didn't look like a hostage situation,” he said in that tone he used before killing someone who offended him grossly.
“Do you think this is the right time for this? People are depending on us babe,” I replied, shocked at what was happening.
“You were kidnapped and poisoned and forced into marrying a general that killed your own people. What's to say you've not gone and fallen for him and this is him using you to get to us?” He snapped, dropping me onto the ground angrily and stepping away from me. “I mean, I still can't understand how you escaped so easily with that thing on your head, so maybe he actually put you all in that little rocket ship to come to find us and finish what he started!”
“Seriously? Can you hear yourself? What are you even talking about?!” I asked, getting angry at this point.
“Make it make sense to me Tessa! You were cozying up to him and letting him touch you! And now you want me to believe it ended there?! Since I met you, you've been trying to get away from me so it's not surprising that the first male who successfully takes you away from my grasp, you switched to his side!”
I opened my mouth to yell back at him but I paused, trying to be the bigger person. He was definitely going through a lot with all the pressure on him and was just venting and lashing out.
“Stop saying such words to me, baby. Deep down, you know that's not true. Look, I'm not saying you're wrong for having questions but this isn't the time or place, okay?”
“Oh so you want me to help you find the ship so you can complete your mission, right?” he snarled, coming closer to me, anger pouring out of him.
Mine went down the alley of emotional pain. I've never ever thought about being with another man since I fell in love with him, yet he was pouring out such venom without even pausing to think about its effects on me or our relationship.
I make a conscious effort to protect our relationship, yet, he's saying these things to me carelessly.
“You're hurting my feelings, Xavier. I don't know what's gotten into you, but we've had the last two weeks for these conversations, and you never bothered to ask. I never told you I was treated badly. Yes, he promised to break me but come on, I killed two men without moving a finger the moment I opened my eyes in that ship. He takes his honor as an oath and wouldn't do anything out of place without my consent. All of these are in my memories, which you can go through, I'm not trying to stop you, but we have to focus on the situation at hand, for crying out loud!” I yelled at him, not caring if anyone heard us.
We stood on the ship floating in space, staring at each other with different emotions running through our eyes and bodies.
Then he gave in and took a deep breath and huffed out hot air.
“Fine but this isn't over,” he replied grudgingly and went to sit down.
Instead of his lap, this time, I sat on the chair next to him.
Instead of the gentle way he got in before, he barged in through my head and went straight to the power controls of sorts.
It was a part of our brains that was only visible to both of us because, as of now, only we had such a type of brain. I'd learned that the reason my powers were growing so fast was because I was right in the home of mother nature which was space. The entire universe graciously poured into me, filling me with power that would have been too much for my mind if I didn't have a tether to Xavier. There had not been a compatible mind for centuries according to Xavier, which was why they were going all in and giving me these powers.
Before I could think further, I lost control of my limbs first; my thoughts evaporated, and all I could do was see myself through his eyes.
And he was pissed for real.
He took care not to hurt me while he took the breathing exercises that allowed us to search the expanse of space around us.
He pulled my body up and dragged it towards the cockpit. I saw my eyes in the reflection ahead of me. It was pure white and no evidence of the brown balls that used to be there.
He felt the connection I felt with the ship and I heard him command Zyx to move us further up.
Immediately, all the other ships moved apart for ours to move past, slowly.
“Move slower Zyx!” He exclaimed, and although I felt shocked at the loud sound, I couldn't react.
I couldn't do anything at all; he had utter and complete control of my being.
I couldn't complain because I gave him full control and if he doesn't give it back, I won't have access to my mind again.
“There!” He exclaimed, and loud cheers of happiness erupted around the ship, irritating me, but I couldn't even express that emotion or make it stop.
He teleported to the deep void and gradually unzipped the pocket he'd hidden the ship.
All the lights were off, which was incredibly unusual, but then, so was this entire situation.
Hopefully, there'd be a reasonable explanation for it and we weren't about to walk into unfortunate circumstances.
I'd expected him to have let go of my mind at this point but he held on tight.
Maybe he was trying to make sure everything was in order first and had forgotten.
Although my mind was strong, my body wasn't, and standing for so long made me tired already. But like my previous feelings, they went unnoticed.
I waited for him for the thirty minutes he finished inspecting the ship and opened the back for the ships to fly in.
Zyx probably realized something was wrong and handed over the steering throttle to someone and guided me to a seat.
I couldn't even sigh in relief.
