CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED TWENTY-FIVE
I put a shield on our ships immediately, keeping an eye out for any loophole that could lead to one of our ships getting hit again.
The soldiers in the falling flight teleported to their designated ships, fifteen coming into mine.
One ky'rhan was already injured and Memphis ran to help with that.
I sighed, realizing that our calm approach wasn't going to work, so I pressed the attack button, and a loud beep went off.
“Zyx, take care of the ship, I'll be back soon,” I said to?y second in command and he took control immediately, flying in different directions to avoid the flurry of bullets coming our way.
The shield was getting weaker because of the amount of fire we were getting, and we didn't really have a direct position to hit because these shots were coming out of nowhere, literally.
I came out of the ship and raised my hand up, signaling peaceful surrender.
But they released fire on me immediately and in my state of shock, the shield on the ship slipped a bit.
Another one fell.
I steeled my resolve and strength, and then I teleported to where the shots were being fired from the most.
I don't know how, but they concealed a whole building and it only appeared after I breached their defense.
My army was finally able to start shooting with a sense of direction, and they went hard at it while I went after the machine guns. I tore them out of the floor, killing the operators as well.
The building was shaking now; the shooting wasn't just targeted at the already dead soldiers here but at the building itself, so I had to teleport back to the ship. It collapsed with me in it.
I watched it crumble into itself.
But the shooting didn't stop.
This time, there was no sense of direction, and I didn't want to fight with gravity at this point; it would affect my concentration on the protection of the ships; we already lost two, so it was a face-off between us and them for a long time. They shot at us, but there was no real impact. We shot at them, but we might have as well shot into thin air.
“Your Majesty, I have an idea,” Lamin said to me, using the walkie-talkie I gave to all my generals.
“Shoot,” I replied, antsy from this mess of a situation.
I was highly under-prepared, and I was already feeling like a failure.
If worse came to worst, I could deploy the nuclear weapons I'd prepared for this purpose but I promised my people a paradise, not uninhabitable land but still, it was my last resort
So I was open to every other idea.
“What if we took this fight to the ground instead of shooting randomly? I have a feeling these buildings are visible on the ground,” he explained, making me think.
If I teleported down, I would be leaving them unprotected and I couldn't send anyone down without knowing what was down there.
“You have a point there, Lamin but we need to get more information about what's down there to avoid flying into a trap.”
“I can take my ship down there while you keep us safe from up here,” he offered.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, your Majesty, allow me to do this,, please.”
“Fine, but pay attention to me. The second I ask you to return, do that immediately,” I warned.
“Yes Sir!” He echoed, and I nodded as though he was physically there with me.
“Zyx, handle the ship, I have to concentrate fully on this,” I said, handing over all controls to him.
I sat down close to the window and watched Lamin and the soldiers in his unit fly down.
All shots from the enemy were directed towards him, but none could penetrate.
I could hear the communication between him and Zyx, but I wasn't focusing on anything but the safety wards around every one of us.
Finally, they landed down, and I could feel the strain of using my powers from such a long distance but I was prepared for extremities like this.
“Your Majesty, he's asking if they can come down from the ship now,” Zyx asked me, his voice filtering through my concentration.
I realized them that there were no more shots being fired at them but back at us.
I'd pinpointed a location earlier when they were going all in on Lamin’s ship so I teleported there with a large gun and decimated the soldiers there with the help of my people.
“Tell him to wait, I'll send someone else to him,” I commanded Zyx who passed along the message.
There weren't as much shots again as I guided Kaid’s ship down there as well.
“What do you see?” I asked as I finally got to talk to him.
“The buildings are here, your Majesty, and they all cut off at the third floor, disappearing into the air,” Lamin explained as he fired off shots into enemies.
Their technological advancement was shocking, to say the least. I'd definitely underestimated them. I'm sure the only reason we were still alive was because of the protective wards I was using. They'd set up that domelike setting of defense to take out any attack.
Hopefully, I don't have to destroy them all because I'd love to use them when I take over.
“Then we need to take the fight to them,” I declared and everyone took positions just like we'd practiced, making it easier for me to protect them at once.
In a few minutes, despite the increased attack and explosives thrown at us, we landed down.
I took a look around as I teleported out of the ship while my soldiers came out gradually.
We communicated with hand signs, everyone running away from plain sight immediately.
I was the only one strolling around the large space in between.
Two buildings had evidence of the destruction I'd wrought on it so the other six were our main focus.
I couldn't protect them individually so they knew to be careful, only shooting from a vantage point.
I divided everyone into equal groups so we could take them out.
Then I focused on the biggest building alone.
Without my protection, I knew they were going to be exposed to more danger but we were prepared for this.
I teleported to the entrance of the building with my gun in hand.
A few soldiers were running around the area, and I was bringing them down, some with guns and others with lightning.
I didn't run or climb the stairs, I kept teleporting, taking down attackers.
I could hear shooting all around the place, and I hoped my army wasn't losing.
My aim was to get access to the general in charge of this operation. From him, I'll be able to get my hand on the leader of the continent.
When I finally got the the fourth floor, there was nobody there.
“Weird,” I whispered as I felt the sudden urge to cough which was very unusual.
I took a look around again before realizing that something was really wrong here, I was coughing uncontrollably without reason.
I teleported out of there immediately, trying to take in as much oxygen as possible.
That was when I noticed the thousands of guns trained on me from the buildings surrounding me.
I was fucked.
