CHAPTER HUNDRED TWNETY-TWO

“I had to take care of a few things. Sorry for the ghastly look,” he explained, and went to the bed where I was on.

“Oh,”

I didn't even want to imagine it but my mind raced with so many possibilities.

Was he dealing with his fellow ky’rhans who disobeyed his orders or humans?

I was confused as to how the people in the mansion weren't running around, stealing the Nexarion. I'd expected pandemonium after the announcement from his father but nobody was acting like anything had happened.

I fervently hoped they actually ignored Seth instead of listening and putting Xavier on a warpath.

“Can I… can I hold you?” He asked, startling me.

“Why?”

“You're my peace, Mia Cara. I know I've done things the wrong way but I'm going through hell now and I just need you to hold me,” he begged.

I was at a loss for what to do.

I hated how my body wanted him in my arms more than anything.

But my mind was refreshed with all the memories of everything that had been happening these past few days.

“Please,” he begged again and that snapped my restraint in half.

“Come on,” I said and he ran into my arms and I wrapped my hands around him and combed my fingers through his hair.

He wasn't lying directly on my body and the bed was quite small for his big build, but I spread my legs apart and put the pillow under his head so my body was around him.

Gradually, he dozed off and began to snore.

I signaled for the guards to close the door behind him and we stayed that way, me ruffling his hair and him sleeping as though he trusted me with every fiber of his being.

If I was capable of it, this would have been the perfect time to kill him but I wasn't and he was my only sure way of escaping this chaos in one piece.

My phone vibrated and I saw a message from Anna.

She was safe and in the military vans heading back to civilization.

I breathed deeply and relaxed on the bed.

Finally, sleep got the best of me.

***CORBIN'S POV***

I was livid.

How dare those guards stop me from getting to her?

I needed to permanently shut her up before she ruined my relationship with Xavier.

“Since I allowed you to make decisions, you've been making absolutely crappy ones. Look where you've landed us, right back in second place and you didn't even get the bitch you did all of this for!” Kaiser snapped at me, his words hitting harder than anything. Well, Tessa's words did a lot of damage too so I was quite a walking body of pain.

I called the men I'd sent after those miscreants in the forest, maybe using her sister as a pawn could get to her as Xavier did.

“How unoriginal. You can't even make any decision without him influencing you,” he growled in my head. “I regret being paired with you,”

My body shook from the hatred he felt towards me.

“Look, you are right to be angry. All of this is upsetting, but please, we need to work together to combat this. If he finds out about our role in all of this, everything is going to be over for both of us. We need to win his trust back, okay?”

“And how do you suggest we do that, dummy? Take back the sleeping powder she already poured in his face which you gave her?” I ignored his jab to speak to the soldiers.

“Master, we've already spoken to his highness and taken his orders. Don't worry,” Dan said to me and my heart rate spiked.

“When was this and why wasn't I informed?” I snapped.

There was silence.

“We weren't informed we had to report back to your Master. You're an ABC but he's the King,”

“Of course, you're right about that. I just wanted to be aware of the state of the mission that I was given. But forgive my intrusion and get back quickly. The ships are getting filled up quickly. You don't wanna be left behind,” I said and dropped the call, my stomach feeling acidic.

“We'll send him Seth's location,” Kaiser grumbled in my head, turning around in a show of annoyance in my head.

“So he can sing like a canary?”

“Well tear out his throat then! The fact that I can't do this myself pisses me off so much.”

He hardly had the freedom to walk the earth, his from defect by the reptilia genes from whoever my mother was but his strength on that scale was felt by everyone so we were an ABC, defect or not.

But when I could get away from this stuffy environment, I always let him swim or hunt without restrictions for as long as possible.

“If this works and we're left behind, you'll have all the freedom to do whatever you want,” I placated him.

And so I set out again to set a trap that might work or not.

“I feel this would set us back in our plans. What if he decides on not going away anymore because he's caught his father?” I mused as I walked into my car.

“He has literally given the entire planet the keys to the Nexarion door and even though it's been changed, many ky’rhans are going to be looking for a way to break into it. If one person succeeds, he loses everything. Also, the mothership has opened its doors all over the world. There's no going back. We have to get him to trust you and then you can tell him to let you stay back. No need for a second person.”

“That sounds like a plan.”

When I drove into the safehouse where I'd stowed away the former King, I was ready to make him blind, dead and dumb if possible.

Our plans depended on him not remembering anything until the mother ship had sailed into orbit.

So when I walked in and a smile lit up his face at finally seeing a human after so many days, a smirk lit up mine because I was well on my way to getting everything I wanted.

Well, minus that bitch, Tessa. She could go to hell for all I cared. I had bigger dreams.
