CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND TWO

When he opened the car for me, it was with unnecessary force, showing how upset he was.

I ignored it and acted like it was absolutely normal.

His mother was at the entrance of the house, watching our interaction.

I'd expected him to change his demeanor as he never wanted me to get in the Queen's line of fire but he simply dragged me past her, showing again, how pissed of her was.

Which he didn't really need to do because everyone from a mile radius could see it.

“What is wrong son? Is she giving you problems?” The queen asked we sped past her. I nearly fell as I struggled to catch up with her livid son.

“Don't worry mom, it's sorted,” he threw in her general direction and dragged me up the stairs that led to the wing of the wives.

The house was so large that the servants spent a long time walking from one wing to the other getting things done.

“Behave yourself young woman!” Drakkonian queen yelled at me even though he had told her he'd sorted whatever it was out.

Aisen got to my door and pushed it open harshly and pushed me.

“By this time tomorrow evening, you either find your way to my chambers or be ready to face the consequences,” he spat at me and jammed the door in my face.

The servants came in a few minutes later, and they met me still standing there with my feelings wrapped all around me.

I had to put my plans in place or I was doomed.

If I ended up having sex with him for whatever reason, my connection with Xavier will be lost and I'll be stuck down here for the rest of my life.

The idea repulsed me too much, so I allowed them to wash me up and put me in night clothes before leaving the room.

I went and locked the door security.

Then before I pressed the containers to empty the rest of the sleeping liquid in them, I felt a shiver run down my spine.

Everything depended on this plan working, specifically, this part where no matter how much he pressed that button, nothing happened to me.

So I put up wards around my bed, hoping there won't be any need for it but still, just as precautions.

I looked around again in the darkness, then I mentally turned on the light switch and laid back down.

I sighed, filled with so many emotions. I thought about my Xander, his cute smile, and how much he'd have grown in the past two weeks. Each morning, I pumped breast milk and threw it away before the servants came in. I didn't even want to think about what he'd have to be eating in my absence. I trust Xavier to take care of him very well.

Or at least give him to Roe and Lisbeth who I trust as well. Somehow, I knew he wasn't rushing off to Zorvath without me as the Draks had assumed. Xavier won't leave me in some strange land to go fight a war.

Which was why I needed to intercept him halfway before he got here to avoid him coming here to waste valuable resources.

This brought me to another problem of how I'll locate him.

I guess I'll think about that further when I'm successfully out of here because I've come up empty every time.

The tracker they used to find us was only in the hand of the King. He handed it over to Aisen when they had a mission.

But I saw him hand it over to him that day we landed and I didn't even realize what it was until I inhaled the library into my mind.

I decided to stop wasting any more time lost in my thoughts then I began emptying the vials by pressing as hard as possible.

By the seventh one, I was already feeling drowsy and there were nine of them.

I needed to make sure it was all entirely empty to avoid any mishaps, so I sat up even though my eyelids were battling to shut.

I remembered then that I had telekinetic powers so I pressed them all at once again, hard enough for the containers to pop.

Then everything went black.

I heard grunts and hits near me so I groggily opened one eye.

Then I blinked three times to confirm what I was seeing.

Soldiers were all over my room, everywhere scattered, and the door was still shut.

They teleported in here and we're trying to get through the protective ward I'd put up.

“What's going on? Why haven't you done it?” I heard the voice of the general from outside.

It wasn't the voice he used to talk to any of the women or his father.

It was his battle voice.

“There's a barrier, General,” one of the Draks hitting the ward with a big sledgehammer shouted back at him.

Suddenly the general appeared and looked at the situation.

I was sat up, confused and scared as this wasn't in any way a part of my plan.

Then there were five soldiers around me, trying to bring down the ward I was struggling to reinforce due to the sleep in my eyes.

I kept pinching myself so I could stay awake but the drugs were fighting me harder.

Then I realized what all the madness was for.

A Drak, one that wasn't dressed in their bulky soldier garb was standing by the side of the closet entrance with a big bottle of liquid in his hand.

They'd come to refill the vials on my head with their sleeping drugs.

Goosebumps filled me at the realization that if I'd not listened to my instincts, I would have been fighting a losing battle.

Everything hung in the balance and I didn't know what to do at that point.

The general walked closer to me and bent down so he stared me in the eyes.

“Take down those wards now!” He yelled at me, lifting the remote high.

His words took a second to register in my head but then I remembered there was nothing he could actually do.

So I stood up, the ward moving with me as I did so.

“Or what?” I asked in a challenging tone and watched as the fear of the unknown etched across his face.

He finally realized that power had changed hands right under his nose.
