CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY-SEVEN
I immediately shot down the drone, the strong lightning powered by my emotions scattering everything to tiny atoms.
“Everyone, spread the message,. we're going back to help them. If you can fight, come meet me at the stadium so we can strategize on our way there, there's no time,” I announced to the small crowd gathered there.
While I walked there, too frenzied to teleport, I began to create a hiding safe spot for Lisbeth, Roe, and the boys. I wouldn't be able to concentrate on anything while there if I'm not completely sure of their safety.
Also, Aran had started showing more of her powers, which was insane physical strength, so she was going to help me protect them physically. When I was trying to create the space we were in now, she'd been the one clearing debris out in space to avoid making any sound as our ship delved deeper. It would have been a funny situation if it wasn't such a serious one.
It was a canopy-like house that had electrical charges placed strategically all over it so they could use it to attack any intruder until help arrived.
By the time I was done, I was already at the small stadium that served as a training ground.
I changed the layout and made it as fast as a football field so people could hear me
“Good morning everyone,” I began, putting the mic close to my mouth so everyone could hear me.
There were murmurs of responses, which I understood because the situation made everyone sad.
“There has been no direct information from the King and his troops so the purpose of this meeting is to inform us all officially that we'll be going to help them out. Obviously, things didn't pan out well because we came here with the wrong information, and I believe we have to at least rescue them, even if we're not going to fulfill the original mission,” I said, and there were affirmative murmurs at first before claps echoed from the crowd.
After which it became cheers.
“I'm not versed in strategy and warfare; I just know how to kill, so I'm going to leave the strategy to anyone who has an idea. Our main aim is to get down there, extract our people, and leave this orbit while protecting the ship, so while you guys do that, I'll be guiding us out of this pocket.” I finished and stepped back.
Immediately, people began speaking above one another, forcing me to interrupt.
“Please guys, let's make it orderly. For now, only the elders who have been to war can start so we, the younger ones, can polish their plans. Let's have something ready before we land there,” I instructed before going out of the circle again.
I saw Lily finally making it and I called her over.
“Hi, I heard something was happening,” she said as she got closer to me.
“Yeah, something has happened to them, and although this looks like some sort of trap, we can't just sit here and do nothing, so we're going back to help, I explained to her.
“Well, how can I help?”
“Thank you so much; we're trying to set up a plan and strategies here to avoid falling prey to whatever happened to them down there while still protecting the ship, so if you can join them, that'll be perfect.”
She did while I focused on getting the ship out of the pocket I'd created.
Because of the time limit, it had been open-ended, meaning if someone was on the other side, they would have seen us, so the ship had sailed further than it should have while I slept.
This made me a bit antsy as every minute without knowing what was happening with him scared me.
I kind of wished I hadn't destroyed that camera but then, the thought of them seeing us all these while scared me shitless. I did a quick scan of our environment again, making sure there wasn't another one lurking, finding out information from us.
It took me three hours to finally get to the point of our entrance and I put on the space suit with an oxygen mask and teleported out there so I could open the pocket.
When I did, it was to a bunch of those cameras all buzzing, trying to get access to the pocket.
In a panic, I destroyed everything I could see before teleporting back to the ship; I didn't even open the pocket properly.
Regardless, the ship pushed through and I went to the command room to see what was happening at the front.
There were several of the drones and then some other machines that I knew were definitely not cameras.
I reinforced the shield around the entire ship while taking deep breaths. I knew we'd soon be far from the peace and affluence of power the vast space provided so I needed to be fully charged before we got down.
“I need the gun stations active again,” I instructed Fido, one of the engineers in the command room.
“Yes your Majesty,” he answered and began making calls.
Just like I'd guessed, the moment we got out of the space, they began shooting.
It seemed like they'd compressed nuclear power into smaller containers and were throwing them at us.
It was a lot having to steer the ship through them as well as protecting it from all the heavy shots fired at us.
Finally, we began to hit back.
I absolved the power they were firing at us and produced bullets out of it and kept it for future use. Out here, we still held an advantage,, but down there, our information was limite,d, and I wanted to keep as many secret weapons as possible.
I heard a knock on the door and it opened to renewal Aran.
“Hey girl,” she greeted me, her antenna bobbing as she came in and saw what I was dealing with.
“Did they come up with anything?” I asked as I kept firing lightning shots mentally at the machines, destroying and clearing them out of my way.
“Not really, they're still stuck on where the ship will land as well as the absolute lack of accurate information, “ she reported and I nodded, understanding.
“It was worth a shot,” I replied as I destroyed one that came to a close. I was having to reinforce the shield every other minute because they kept leaving cracks on it.
“Is there anything I can help with?” She asked, standing awkwardly by the side.
“Do you know how to operate a machine gun?” I asked her.
She replied with a crazy smile, one that made happy about having another important asset.
Maybe we'd actually win this thing.
