CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY-SEVEN
**XAVIER'S POV**
Two weeks after I made the announcement, the entire capital had begun to be crowded by the people who could afford to travel.
Movement was more difficult than usual because there were so many people everywhere and lodges and countryside houses were filled with people.
I wasn't fully ky'rhan, so seeing different shades of my people was a great sight, and I always flew up in Tessa's little black jet to hover around, seeing them and their ways of life.
I was nervous for the first time in my life because I'd come to fall in love with my position here, the people, their values and beliefs, and the colors, so many colors. If I didn't pass the test for whatever reason, I'd feel terrible about it because I really wanted to be their leader, and with Tessa by my side, we could build one of the greatest civilizations on this side of the Milky Way.
They were also amazed by what we'd turned the capital into and I could tell many would stay back after the test and coronation. We weren't even done yet.
I had to force my wife to take a break yesterday because she was going at it with all of her energy, refusing to slow down or take a break. She was supposed to be relaxed and cozy but she was focused on satisfying everybody but herself.
So yesterday, I took her to space for a picnic which turned into a ride as we flew around with no destination in mind. We came back, and I could see she looked even better; her skin was radiant, and her smile was full. Okay, maybe that was because of the orgasms I kept giving her, I was obsessed with her reaction when she was close, and if I wasn't about to walk into a box of horrors, I would whisk her away for another session.
She came up to hold me again as she'd been doing for the past three hours since we got here; she'd run around, organizing the servants, dishing out orders, and making sure everything was going smoothly, and then she'd come back to hold me, as though she was scared I was going to disappear.
“You have to stop running around, young lady; everything is set already,” I told her, adjusting Xander on my other hand while arranging her hair again.
“But I have to make sure –”
“No, we have people in charge of everything,” I stopped her and then took her hand and walked her to our seat.
We'd set up a huge stage in the middle of the market. The land there was the biggest expanse of space in the country, and shops weren't like on Earth, where big buildings filled up everywhere. It was all easily dismantled and replaced with chairs.
The Test was going to be on for about three hours, and we didn't want people to stand for that long, hence the chairs. People were also told to bring from their houses anyway, so I was sure that the front was covered.
But Tessa was trying to achieve perfection which I knew was just a cover for how scared she was. She really hated feeling helpless, and I realized the last time I'd gone through this, she was with Corbin, and I don't think that idiot tried to make it easier for her to bear.
Thankfully Zyx would be able to stay with her this time around. I'd explained everything to her so she wouldn't be scared if she heard me screaming, I wasn't getting physically hurt.
She has also been feeding me tiny dosages of unfiltered Nexarion, so maybe it was a cheat code, but I've gone through the test with her over and over again.
But she was still terrified and scared, so I kissed her again as the Secretary of state took over the mic to announce the beginning.
“Promise me you'll get out if it becomes too much?” She said to me while the ky'rhan geared up the crowd.
“But that'll mean I've failed,” I replied with a frown.
“And that would mean you come back to us! Look, you're strong, and this won't be a big deal for you, but I just have a strange feeling, and I want you to be careful; that's all I'm saying.”
“Fine, I understand you, and I'm never going to ignore your instincts, so before I go in, I'm going to ask Kaid to look over the entire thing; his father was trained in building the apparatus for it.”
“Okay, I think that'll help me feel better.”
“I love you, you know that right?” I said to her, caressing her face. I would definitely take her back up in space tonight after all of this.
“Yes, and I love you too, so come back to us with that crown, okay?” She said and I kissed her again before handing Xander over to her.
As I walked further into the stage, people began screaming in excitement.
I waved my hand and tail at them, switching to Xy’thern’s form as I walked down. The cheers increased.
And my heartbeats did, too.
I had held my face and confidence up for Tessa not to feel scared, but now that I was about to enter the test room, I couldn't lie to myself; I was apprehensive.
Not that I couldn't bear the pain but her suspicion about foul play was very valid.
We descended from outer space after centuries of being chased out and are now forcing ourselves on them.
People were bound to be upset, and this was ample opportunity to get their revenge.
But nevertheless, there was no going back; I wasn't a coward, so I would have to go in and face whatever was inside it.
Although I had a previous experience, my fears have changed. I knew they would test my loyalty to my family more brazenly now. Then it was my father, Corbin, and Tessa against the good of the Ky'rhans.
It was easier then because I never really liked my father, it was only Tessa's part that nearly sent me over the edge.
But now, everything depended on the happiness of my family before everyone else.
It won't even let me lie because it took complete control of my mind, burrowing deep to drive answers from me.
I waited a few minutes for Kaid to finally give me a heads-up, signaling I could go in.
So I did.
