CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED

“My son!” He exclaimed cheerfully as he walked in with a Drak wearing an imposing garb. “I didn't know books interested you or are you showing your lady our extensive collection?”

Aisen’s hand on my waist felt heavy as he struggled to find a response to his father's questions.

The awkward silence was palpable so I had to come in.

“I'm sorry your Majesty but I was looking for fantasy novels to immerse myself in but he insists you don't have anything of that nature,” I replied sweetly with a fake smile.

“Yes, that's true father. How are you feeling today?” Aisen finally found his tongue and responded to his father.

“I'm doing better, the cough has subsided so I decided to bring Winchester down here for him to get me those ancient tomes. I can feel my time nearing and I want to be prepared,” he said and patted his son on the arm before waving us to follow him.

“I'm sure you're going to live another five hundred years father. It's just a little cough.”

“Oh please. Quite being a dreamer. So little girl, you said you wanted fictional books?” He asked, directing a gaze at me.

“Yes your Majesty, my father used to read bedtime stories to me so I was hoping to see something similar,” I replied, and even I was shocked at how fast the lies were coming to me.

“Oh we don't indulge in such frivolous things. Come let me show you the expanse of knowledge we've gathered over the centuries from several planets,” he declared boastfully.

I was eager to join him as this was going to broaden my search.

Maybe I won't have to pop someone's mind in search of information to aid my escape.

“Wow,” I gasped as I saw the main library.

Whatever Aisen had shown me was simply one small part of the entire thing

It was built in the form of a dome and there were large ladders all over the place with people atop some of them, arranging books.

It had towering pillars and I could see about four spiraling stairs from where I stood alone. I was jdw there were more of it the further we walked.

The ceiling had paintings of Dark men in their natural form, a skinny build but it was all strong pecs, even on the faces. Their eyes were the most distinct features of their form and the drawing captured it completely.

“Yes, wow indeed.” The king was proud of his achievements.

The building was enormous so the farther we went, the more books my brain swallowed. Also, the shelves were not designed like on earth. It was like a cupboard each so dust wasn't going to settle so much on them.

There were different sections and some places even had different types of special papers.

Finally, we got to the part for vehicles and I couldn't help smiling.

“You see something you like?”

“The Libraries on earth were destroyed when the Zorvathians visited so I am just happy seeing something of this expanse thriving,” I replied, proud of myself for not ratting myself out.

“I have no idea how you managed to have feelings for someone who destroyed your world, it's cultures and centuries of achievements,” the king said in a derisive tone.

“I didn't have much of a choice, your Majesty. He left me no choice. Also, I felt k could help the humans from the inside since there was no one speaking for them on the seats of power,” I replied, careful not to jeopardize my agreement with Aisen.

“You're really smart. It's such a shame you're a woman,” he said, making me feel a hot burst of anger. How could this society be so misogynistic that he's saying such words without a filter? Would it be such a bad thing if I made his heart pop in his chest right now?

I shook my head off the gruesome thoughts and continued walking.

“Father, we have to start going, we were on a date already before we came this way,” Aisen finally spoke up.

“You're doing a great job son, make sure you breed her before we have to send her off. Your mother tells me she's your only chance,” he tells him in their language, making me feel repulsed.

If he was smart enough, he'd have gone to any planet with an advanced medical system and gotten himself checked considering he'd not been able to get any of his six wives pregnant.

They give themselves a hug again before we walk back towards the entrance.

“You're really close with your father,” I commented, still shocked by the sight.

“It was difficult for him to have a child as well so when my mom finally got pregnant, he sent all the other women away and made her a queen. He's spent the entire last century grooming me to be the perfect leader. He believes I'll be the one to revive the age of the flying Drakos again.”

I ignored the patronizing tone he was using to talk to me. I was queen already so the title didn't faze me anymore.

Especially when it was tethered to a male like him.

He took me to a garden that was already prepared for our date.

“I still don't understand why you want to do this. Is it a part of your tradition?”

The man went from imprisoning women to force them to choose him and now he's setting up candles and setting a romantic dinner.

“I heard that's how humans of.old convinced their females to accept them,” he answered cheerfully.

“Ohh,” I realized the power of half information.

The humans before Zorvathian invasion did go on dates, keyword, dates to combine their partners to take them seriously.

This drak thought I'd swoon after a him once we were done eating.

Now I understood why he'd been pestering me about it.

I can't wait for when this dinner is over and I maintain my ground.

Hopefully he doesn't throw a tantrum or something.
