CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN
“Your Majesty?” I heard someone call me as I walked into the human quarters from the stairs. I didn't teleport too close to where humans were to avoid colliding with someone.
I turned around to see Trent running up the stairs to meet me.
“Oh hey, how did it go?”
“We were about to round up the search when these giant flowers ran at us and began swallowing the seeds. It ran through Cal’s leg.”
“Damn, have you taken him to the doctor?”
“Um, no. We weren't sure he'd be attended to.”
“Don't be ridiculous. Take him to Doctor Memphis and tell him I said he should give him complete attention immediately.”
“Thank you so much,” he replied, relief filling his eyes as he ran off.
I turned around to a small crowd that watched the small exchange.
I waved hello to them and walked through the path they made for me to my friends.
The girl Xavier had found to help me take care of Xander was the one who opened the door for me.
“How are you?” I asked her as she bowed down in greeting.
“I'm fine your Majesty, thank you. He's fed and asleep for now but he was crying earlier,” she reported to me.
I went to hug Lisbeth and Roe who came at me the moment they saw me.
“Your eyes look tired, I hope you're going to rest after all of this,” Lisbeth asked as I carried Brendan from her.
He was bubbly and laughing at my playful antics.
“I'll try to do that but for now, we kind of have a mini crisis. The king is out of commission and I still haven't gotten to the root of this madness.”
“I knew that bitch was up to no good,” Roe cursed as she sat next to me.
“That's evident now. I just came here to be sure everything is fine because I won't be able to check in again till night. But call me immediately if anything happens, okay?”
“We'll be fine, dear; go save our lives again,” Lisbeth said to me as she took the baby from my arms.
I held Xander's fingers for a moment before I stood up.
I'd come here for emotional support but I realized until things were done, I wouldn't be able to calm down.
So with a wave at them, I teleported back to the control room where the system was ready for me to address a confused ship.
“Oh, you're here; there's a shift in the air, so I'm assuming you did something?” Zyx asked me as I walked in.
“Yes, you didn't tell me that flower has a mind of its own.”
“It doesn't. What happened?” he asked.
So I explained it to him in detail, because if this was going to be a problem, we needed to deal with it now.
Instead, he was amazed.
“The old gods have favored you! We're going to have a safe trip from now as nothing from outside this ship will affect us,x he exclaimed excitedly and others joined him.
“Except for this time, our problem is from inside,” I retorted before walking towards the mix that Kaid set up.
“I'm ready,” I said to him, and he pressed a button, and I saw my face across screens that were all around us.
It was my first time addressing them and I felt a bit nervous. But they needed to know what was happening and from here on, I hope we would be able to forge a new community that's not divided by anyone.
“Good afternoon everyone,” I began with a small smile. “I'm really grateful and honored to be back here among you all,” I heard loud cheers around the ship, making me feel more bold and accepted. “Thank you, thank you,” I said with a wave, waiting for the cheers to quiet down.
“We have been through so many things these past few months since I was introduced to this position and one thing I'm proud of is growth, not just mine but us all as a whole. We've begun the process through which our children will live happily, not burdened by the darkness brought on by hate and division. But some people are not happy with and we can't give them prevalence.” I paused a bit, the silence deafening. I continued afterwards.
I gave them the details of the attack, who was responsible for it, and how it was intended for me and Xavier, them being collateral damage.
“She is securely in our custody and would have been subject to a public sentencing today, but his Majesty is under the weather, and we'll have to wait for him. But on the side of good news, I have two to share,” I said with a smile and I could feel the positive energy in the entire ship. “First of all, the problem has been neutralized and according to General Zyx, the old gods are with us now,” I announced and there were loud cheers from the ky'rhans.
It occurred to me that they must have been taught about these gods in their school which was different from ours. Another problem I'd like to make disappear.
After they quieted down a bit, I continued.
“The second good news is that by my current calculations and assessment of the ship, we'll be able to see our destination planet Zorvath,” I finished and everywhere went agog with excitement.
“Don't forget to report any suspicious activity and let us know how we can help to make your lives better. Meanwhile, even if you're not a soldier, join the training; it'll be televised for everyone because we honestly don't know exactly what we're going to meet there. Best to be prepared. Enjoy the rest of your day.”
I nodded to Kaid, who turned off the thing, and the screens went dark.
“That was a beautiful speech. I couldn't have done it better,” I heard from a tired Xavier.
I couldn't help myself, I ran into his arms excitedly.
“How are you feeling? Have you eaten?” I smothered him with my worries.
He held my face so I paused.
“I'm fine knowing you've got my back every and any time. Even if I die today, I'm sure everything will be fine.”
“Please don't talk about your death so casually, you're not going anywhere. Except to sit down before you feel worse,” I said and guided him to a chair.
“I love it when you baby me,” he said with a smile.
“I'll do that forever, so long you don't scare me like this again,” they said and kissed his forehead. “Zyx, please pay attention to him, I'm going to the kitchen.”
“Oh you're really babying him,” the oaf replied with a laugh.
I teleported to the kitchen after shaking my head at their antics and told the cook to make soup and some bread for him.
She was done in no time and handed me everything in a tray.
I didn't want to teleport with it to avoid colliding with somebody and pouring hot soup on them.
I was walking towards the direction of the control room when I saw a sight that made me drop the soup in shock.
It was Corbin.
He was standing at the roundabout that connected to the cells, the west wing, and the control room.
And he was holding my son in his arms while my friends were tied up behind him.
