CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED FORTY-SIX
We didn't attend to them that night, but the next day, everything had to be paused as they all began reporting on their regions.
“I think I'm going to move today's meeting forward, you're getting overwhelmed while I'm with these males, just talking all day,” Xavier said as we leafed through the reports.
Insecurity, famine and animal attacks were largely a problem but these the generals can take care of themselves.
What they needed help with however was a decree that stopped slavery all over the world.
Half of the people were lazy, unable to contribute to the general good of the population while depending on the other half to do everything just because their fathers joined the rebellion centuries ago.
“It's not going to take much, just make the general decree on television, send out the army to each region and force them to comply. We'll begin using sanctions later on but for now, we can only achieve immediate compliance by force,” I expressed.
We'd gathered at my office earlier than usual and I kept looking towards Xander in Xavier’s arms.
We'd had that conversation yesterday even though I hadn't wanted to tell him but I couldn't stomach the idea of keeping something so important from him.
Thankfully he didn't react badly, instead he promised to always help out if I got overwhelmed.
He did help me relax after the day I had yesterday with a massage which was why I was full of energy as we discussed about the plans we needed to make.
“You're right, Your Majesty, but I'm scared the soldiers are going to find it difficult to do this since they're also comfortable with the system of things here. What if they revolt?” Lamin asked.
“After the decree is made, it'll be illegal to disobey hence any soldier not bringing people to justice will be stripped of their rank and there's nothing more disgraceful to a ky'rhan than that so don't worry too much, we've got this,” Xavier reassured him.
“Besides, we're going to start that tour around the regions soon. A few live punishments should get things straightened out, Xavier doesn't have a problem being the bad guy,” I added.
“Okay, since that's straightened out, we need to discuss these rumors about an attack from Saturn and Pluto or whatever it is they call it,” Zyx said.
“The fake former king mentioned it but I didn't ask him for further details. What's that about?” Xavier asked.
“The stories from the south varies from the ones Kaid hears from the North but the similarities lie in the style of transportation they use;” Zyx began explaining, “their ships can teleport, not far distances but enough to escape and they can get through the aerial defense system we took down on the first day.”
“And what do they want?” Xavier asked.
“Not friendship obviously since they kidnap ky'rhan women, take human slaves and whatever harvest they have. They're going to start harvesting in three months and that's how long we have to create a defense system that will be strong enough to keep them out.”
I sighed as my brain began doing a multi marathon race of juggling ideas.
“We won't,” Xavier states, standing up. We all looked up to him in shock and confusion. “We'll train a special ops unit that'll include me so when they come to kidnap the slaves, they'll take me and them. We'll destroy them from the inside while planting spies among them as well. We need information on that technology,” be finished and we were nodding our heads.
“That means you'll have to talk to Minister Kayan, he still doesn't take me seriously so he can get on this and give you really strong ky'rhan women in the next three months. I don't know y'all want to achieve that feat.”
“We'll figure it out, this Is just a rough draft, we'll adjust our plans as the months go by. What I want to know now is how the people truly feel about this change of government. They're not all to happy, are they?”
“That bothers you? We're doing them a favor,” I said to him.
“Yes but dealing with the masses is a tricky thing. Sometimes they don't even realize you're trying to help and instead focus on the one thing wrong which is we ousting their government. I want to be sure there won't be an uprising anytime soon,” he explained and I took a hold of his hand instinctively.
“We are still monitoring it but I have come across some groups of men insisting that a proper test be done to determine you're worthy of being the king. They were deceived by the last Kings and don't want that again,” Kaid explained.
“Well they can wait till things straiten out. It's dumb to stick their leader into a fucked up testing machine when theirs no one to take over if he fails.”
“I won't!” He stated angrily, shutting me off.
“I know you won't, you're strong and you've done this before but are you sure this is the right time for it? Do we also want to give them the impression that they can bully you into doing whatever they want?”
“No but it's legitimacy of our crown that's the discussion here. Everything else will follow seamlessly if we can prove to everyone including the old gods that we're the right kings.”
“We? You mean I'll have to go through it as well?”
“That's probably for the best since you both are equal in ranks,” Lamin responded.
“Don't be stupid, my wife isn't going through that test. No woman has ever done that,” Xavier snapped but I could see where they were coming from.
No one would ever take me seriously until I prove to them that I'm capable of passing their test.
“I will do the test but after Xander stops breastfeeding. I don't want the experience to affect him in any way.”
“Baby you're not doing that!” Xavier insisted but I shook my head.
“You've not seen what I've had to go through all these while, if going through that damn test will end the unnecessary disrespect, I'll do it. Besides, have you forgotten I survived it before, albeit unintentionally?”
“Fine but I'll train you first,” he conceded.
