CHAPTER HUNDRED AND TWELVE

***CORBIN'S POV***

I walked into my room with an annoyed huff.

A long day of pretending I was someone I was not was getting more and more frustrating with each breath I took.

“You just have to be a little bit patient, everything is almost complete,” my ky’rhan, Kaiser said in my mind.

My relationship with him was unusual, unlike anyone else.

We agreed on everything, made plans with each other and I allowed him to lead but he always took directives from me before making decisions.

This made him happy and he promised me this world and its riches; all I had to do was follow his instructions and so far, it's been going amazingly well.

Well, that was until the one person I desired slipped right through my fingers.

The day I saw Tessa on the ground, getting manhandled by those weaklings, I saw red and nearly slaughtered them all but Kaiser held me back.

Then I watched in pain as Xavier took her from my hand.

As per my ky'rhan’s instructions, I bid my time, getting on her good side and earning her trust.

The day we kissed, it felt like I was floating in the clouds. I felt like a little boy who just got the fastest race car and I craved her so much more than I was allowed to.

With each attempt to get her back to where we were, Xavier kept showing why he was the King and not us.

Until last week when he fucked up.

It was by pure luck that she had listened in on his conversation and I didn't need to convince her about anything.

I set her on a dangerous path, the riskiest thing I'd ever done. Kaiser was careful, never taking risks to make sure we got what we wanted at the end of the day.

“And look where that ended. We already did too much by giving Seth a chance to see a glimpse of our real intentions,” Kaiser grumbled and curled into himself, flicking his tail in annoyance.

“I know, I know,” I replied tiredly as I undressed for the shower.

If I hadn't miscalculated, she would have been in my arms right now. But instead, I sent her in the wrong direction and before I could get there, I misplaced my phone in panic.

Now she was nowhere to be found; Xavier had combed the entire capital clean.

I'd spent the entire day running in circles that Xavier thought Tessa was in and the other one to prepare the ship for lift off.

We were ready to leave, the only thing holding him back was her. I wish he'd just forget about her and leave. It'll make everything so much easier, and no one would have to get hurt.

The powder I'd given to Tessa to pour in his face had weakened him considerably and I was confident I'd win any direct clash with him in the next few days.

Hopefully he gave us this wild goose chase for her and took the ship out of this planet; Seth already sent another message promising to unleash the secret of not just the humans but every location where Nexarion was on this earth.

“That can't happen. We will lose control of this planet and we're so close so push that dimwit to get out of here,” Kaiser commanded and I nodded as the hot water cascaded down my scaly spine.

“He's not going to be happy about it though. I'm thinking of telling him to leave and I'll bring her to him but I don't know how he'll react to that,”

“He doesn't trust you. Find someone else,”

“You know how I hate recruiting new people. I mean, who else does he trust more than me?”

“His secretary,”

Oh

“And Marina hates how he scorned her for him. I don't even need to let her in on our plans, she will simply be sent to the field to get her and she will get a smaller ship to come meet us when she's done,”

“You're getting smarter,” he said with a smirk.

I nearly laughed out loud in the bathroom.

Kaiser didn't give out compliments easily and I lived for his approval.

When he'd scoured the entire earth, looking for his Luminari and didn't find her, we had to switch to finding my soulmate and when we found her, he'd given his blessings on the spot.

And there goes Xavier, taking her from me just as he always did with everything else, making me play second fiddle.

But all that would end in a day or two.

Seth was going to release his broadcast in twenty four hours, I'd arranged everything.

Xavier and the rest of the ky’rhan species will either leave tonight after he accepts my suggestion or tomorrow when his father destroys the kingdom they all suffered to build.

And I'll be there to take charge and make sense of the chaos. The council will have no other viable option but me and I'll become King.

“Can't wait,” Kaiser said as I toweled off.

“Let me check on those rascals in the forest. I've gotta make sure everything is ready,”

I locked my windows and put on the number I used to communicate with them.

“Hey Boss,” Jamal said, his voice apprehensive, “I've been trying to reach you for a while now,”

“We spoke yesterday morning. Do you want the whole world to know I'm funding a resistance against my own people?” I barked at him, my ky'rhan irritated with his tone.

“I apologize. It's just that something important came up,”

“And what was it that couldn't wait for two minutes?”

“The missing Queen is here,” he said and my heart thudded with a loud thump. “And the King just sent her a video of him threatening to kill her father,” he reported to me and my blood ran cold.

“He's taking action without consulting you first?” Kaiser growled, standing tall in my head, his anger prominent.

“I hope this was a spur of the moment thing. We can't lose his ear and trust right now,” I sighed

“This is strange. How did she even end up there?” I asked Jamal who was still on the phone.

“We saw her parent's van mistakenly drive into our side of the forest and we went ahead to get them here. Please help us figure this out to avoid her ratting us out,” he begged.

“I'll handle it,” I grumbled and
cut the call.

“This changes everything,” Kaiser said and I nodded as I heard a harsh knock on the door.
