CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY

I opened my eyes groggily, feeling like I'd been in a coma or something. I was so tired even breathing was stressful.

I looked around to see I was lying down among several people, all of who were still knocked out.

All except Lily who was singing a lullaby to Xander.

“Xander!” I exclaimed, my memories rushing back to my head. I startled the both of them as I rushed to grab him from her.

“You're really stronger than anyone this universe has ever blessed,” Lily whispered but I was obsessed with making sure my son was fine before I could do anything else.

I put a nipple in his mouth and he finally quieted down enough for me to process what was happening.

“What happened here?” I asked Lily who was looking at me, all smiles.

“Um, I put everyone to sleep with my siren song, and guess what! I got my gills!” She exclaimed in excitement and turned around to show me.

She was wearing a gown that had an opening under the armpit all the way to her waist, so I could indeed see the new development.

“All of this is confusing, why are they still asleep? When did you get your powers?”

“So many questions,” she said with a giggle. She was more than excited. “So being close to you kind of awoke my sleeping powers, and Aran has this prophecy where she believes we're all gonna save the universe from impending doom, so I knew I had to save your son. Otherwise, you would collaborate with the enemy and destroy reality as we know it.”

She was bouncing off and on her feet, so she did look crazy, don't blame me for thinking she was.

“Alright, thank you for helping me rescue my son. I'm in your debt,” I told her and hugged her.

As I untied my friends, I decided I wasn't going to be leaving Xander with anyone again.

“Oh wait,” Lily called and I turned to her

She had the ship key in her palm, making me pause.

“How…” I gasped.2

I've had that thing in my head and I knew if I wasn't stronger than I used to be, it'll drive me crazy.

“When everyone went to sleep because of the singing, it floated out of your chest to me so I put the ship on pause so I don't ruin something,” she explained.

I nodded and took the key and put it back in my chest.

As I got it back on track, I took Corbin to the dungeon, the one with the snake that Xavier had built for Lamin.

I remembered how terrified that guy looked when he was brought out.

I didn't know how he was able to repair his brains after what happened to it before but I decided to give his body my work to do while he was down there.

So with broken bones, brain spilling out of his skull and his eyes gauged out, I sent him to the snake in the pit.

If he's as powerful as he believes he is, he should kill the animal.

Or get eaten by it? I don't really care which comes first. I just didn't want to get involved in their ky'rhan council drama or I would have killed him myself.

With Xander strapped in my arms, I began moving everyone who supported Corbin into the prison he was in previously.

When I was done, I got back to see Lily singing a song again and before I could ask her what it was for, it became obvious.

People were getting up on their own gradually.

Xavier looked around the room before his eyes got to me. He jumped up and teleported to where I stood in a second.

“You're safe!” He said exasperated, taking Xander in his arms.

I watched him embrace our child and it warmed my heart how much he loved him.

I was doubting his love for me though. I took him back after he was done playing with him and we exchanged an awkward look.

I was too disconnected to think about the rift between us at the moment because we had a situation to deal with.

“Where is he?” He asked me, his voice cold.

“I threw him in the snake dungeon. I didn't want to kill him without your knowledge.”

“I wouldn't have been upset if you had killed him. I'm done pretending there was ever a connection between us.”

“Then a public execution is in order I guess,” I mused.

“You're right. I'll get Zyx started on the execution. We will be going into Zorvath with zero enemies.”

“That's a good idea. If things are going awry, we don't want our enemies seeing a weakness in them and exploiting it.”

“Yes. Can I have the ship key? I need to get the prisoners out,” he asked, stretching out his hand.

I handed it over to him without a second thought.

“Please be careful, I don't trust the source of his strength,” I said to him as he turned to walk away.

“Even though he's turned into this heartless person, he was my cousin. He's not getting the best of me again, I'm back to my full strength,” he replied then nodded awkwardly to me before walking off.

With a sigh, I walked over to where Lisbeth and Roe were talking to Lily and Aran.

Immediately I got closer, Roe stretched her hands out for Xander.

“Don't worry, I've got him. I'm sorry you guys got caught up in all of these,” I apologized to them, feeling bad at how they always get caught up in my life's situations.

“Oh please, it's nothing. Besides, friends take hits for their friends all the time; it's no biggie,” she joked. making me feel relieved a bit.

“Yeah, it's alright. Lily here was telling us how you rescued her and now she feels so happy doing something for you,” Lisbeth added.

“And Aran was saying something about a prophecy,” Roe added.

“Oh, I don't know much about the prophecy but we'll talk about it later. But for now, we kind of have to gather together for something,” I replied just as the screens came on and it was in a meeting room with all the older elders and Xavier with his new generals.

Then the prisoners.

“Shouldn't you like… be there?” Roe asked me, that awkward feeling crawling up my spine again.

I hated being left out but I didn't see what else I could do. I wasn't going to barge into a trial I wasn't invited to.

“It's probably going to be gruesome so I asked to be excused,” I replied, conscious of the crowd around us. “I need to go inside, I'm feeling a bit tired,” I said and before they could start worrying themselves over the weird choice of excuse, I teleported to my room.
