CHAPTER HUNDRED AND THIRTY-THREE
The week passed by in a blur, my days filled with wonderful moments with my friends and Xavier trying to get me to forgive him.
I turned from my bed and a fresh bouquet of flowers were by the bedside table
I rolled my eyes and angrily grabbed the roses, rushing out of the room to trash it in the bin right outside the door.
“Ouch!” I winced as a thorn pierced my hands.
“You know, you should forgive him at this point,” Zyx said from the next door, causing me to roll my eyes in annoyance.
“It's none of your business!” I snapped and walked back inside, my finger still hurting.
I was walking towards the bathroom when I collided into Xavier as he teleported into my room.
“Oh shit, I'm so sorry,” he apologized while steadying me on my feet. I hated the way my body automatically leaned into his. I quickly took a few steps back, my emotions mixed up and pouring into the rising anger swelling in my head
“The door is there for a reason! Use it!” I yelled, frustration filling me up.
“I'm so sorry, Zyx told me you hurt yourself from the roses I dropped last night and I felt so bad I rushed over here. I just wanted you to wake up to something nice so you could have a better day,” he explained but I refused to accept his words nor the way his eyes fluttered innocently.
He was bad and there was no way I was going to stop believing that. Hopefully.
“I don't even like roses and that's no excuse for popping in here and nearly throwing me off the ship,” I grumbled, exaggerating the incident.
“I'm sorry, I had no idea,” he apologized again, making me feel icky. He was doing everything right but the turmoil between my heart and my head made everything he said and did a total disaster. “What's your favorite flower? I'll get it for you, and this time, I'll walk through the door,” he said with a small smile.
“Tulips,” I muttered without thinking twice.
I mentally face palmed. Why did I go and open my big mouth?
“Oh, sorry, that doesn't grow on this ship.” I did a little dance in my head. “But I'll find a way to get it for you,” he added before disappearing.
Then he appeared again, “sorry,” he whispered sheepishly and went through the door.
What did he mean by that? I looked outside my window like I'd always done and we were quite far away from earth so where was he going to find me Tulip flowers?
I should have agreed to take these flowers instead of him running off to get the damn flowers.
I mean, the flower was the first gift Brendan gave to me when I fell and hurt my knee and I've always loved them but it wasn't the end of the world.
But I couldn't call him back now so I guess that meant I'd have to be indoors until he was back.
If people began looking for him and asked me, what was I supposed to say?
‘Oh, I sent your King on a hunt for Tulips?’ I'm royally fucked if that gets out.
A knock came to my door and I went to open it.
“Theresa? Isn't it too early for breakfast?” I asked, confused by her presence.
“His Majesty wants you to spend the day with some of the women as they have been complaining of your absence in the ship's affairs,” she said as she walked in.
That's weird…
“When did he tell you this?” I asked, confused.
“Right now, I'm just coming from the throne room,” she replied.
If she was setting me up, she chose the perfect time for it. If anything happened to me, Xavier would only meet the aftermath of it and not be able to rescue me. It's been a while since I saw Xy’thern so I doubt he'd be aware of something happening to me and rush to rescue me as he always did.
But then, what if all of this was in my head and Xavier didn't actually go to get me the flowers, making me delusional just for fun?
“It's alright, let me get changed into something more presentable,” I told her and went to the bathroom.
I spent a long time in there, hoping to prolong whatever was going to happen; either my heartbreak or my death.
Eventually, I had to come out.
I wore a pink gown that made me look approachable but still gave a ‘don’t mess with me vibe’, its length was above my knee, hugging all my features and zipped all the way to my neck.
“Let's go,” I said to her and she got up from the chair and walked out before me.
Throughout the past week, I'd chosen the one time where people were doing everything else but being in the recreation area to go swim.
Midnight.
So effectively, I avoided people. The regional heads were my only source of socializing except Lisbeth and Roe. They asked for my opinions a lot too about how to take care of the humans.
I'd learnt that Xavier changed the previous heads after he became King and chose younger, open minded ky’rhans to rule with him.
Everyday, after working out, they were in the throne room, planning on how to rule Zorvath when he successfully gets it back.
Sometimes, people come to complain about something or settle disputes. I always found a way to make sure I wasn't there while it was happening. I just wanted to stay away from the politics and everything intense, at least until I had a clearer picture.
If Xavier was lying about his treatment of the kidnapped humans, what then would be the point of trying to make a change?
So it kind of made sense that people are complaining about my absence. It was intentional on my part and I was already thinking of how to make them know that.
They had different activities throughout the day to avoid boredom or lack of productivity so I guess I was being led to one of them.
“Where exactly are we going?” I asked Theresa.
I'd not been given the tour I was promised, the pregnancy was already making me feel more tired than I was used to so that was a perfect excuse.
“The children are having a swimming tournament and they think you'll be best suited as a judge since you love the sport so much,” she replied and I nodded.
As we got to the fork that led to different areas in the ship, I looked down the path that led to the throne room.
I heard voices but one in particular stood out to me.
“Give me a second,” I told her and went in the direction of the throne room.
She frowned but followed me, probably wondering why I was going to see him again.
The closer I got, the clearer the voice sounded.
I didn't bother going inside, I just looked through the glass doors and saw Xavier sitting on his throne, without the Tulip.
