CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN

It seemed easy to ignore, but I didn't have anything else to do, and I thought maybe an animal had died in there or something.

I'd asked a ky'rhan to help me look at it so he climbed into the vent.

“Did you see anything?” I asked after five minutes of silence.

There was no response.

“Hey! You!” I called another worker; this one was part of the cleaning crew. “Come help me check on him.”

“Yes Your Majesty,” he replied and jumped through the ladder quickly to figure out what was happening.

He began coughing as I heard him drag the other guy down the ladder, his footsteps slowing each time.

I had to pop in there and bring both of them out myself.

The first guy had fainted completely, and the other one was coughing horribly.

So I took both of them to the clinic and tried to explain to the doctors there.

Keyword: tried.

I didn't understand what had happened, and all I knew was that something was wrong with those air vents, and if it was so active upon close encounter, it must be affecting the entire ship.

I teleported to the throne room, hoping to see Xavier, but it was only his generals I saw.

“Zyx! Something is wrong!”

“What is happening your Majesty?”

“Come, I'll show you,” I said and took him with me immediately to the spot it had happened.

A crowd had gathered around there and two more people were struggling to breathe on the ground.

“What is going on here?” Zyx demanded

“Why did they go up there?” I snapped at the foolishness they displayed. I had to teleport them again to the infirmary before I got back

By then, Zyx had already been briefed on what was happening.

“I want a human to try and see what's happening but they're all scared to talk to someone. Lyra-en created too much animosity among them so I don't know if you could get someone to come help us?” He said as I got closer to them.

Before I could go to the human quarters, Lisbeth’s boyfriend and some other guys were coming with equipment, nose mask and everything.

News had spread and they weren't waiting for me to come and ask them to help.

“We heard something was making y'all pass out,” Trent said, making a few people chuckle at his attempt at lighting up the situation.

“There's something in that vent, and I noticed it because of its smell, but something tells me it's not just that, so I want to see if it's both a human and ky'rhan poison,” I explained to them.

He quickly put on the nose masks and climbed up the ladder.

Then he started crawling deeper into it before pausing somewhere.

“I found it!” He exclaimed in a muffled sound.

“Well, bring it down, man!” Zyx snapped, echoing the anxiety around the small crowd that had gathered.

He climbed down immediately and he dropped a pile of tiny black pebbles in my hand with a grin.

The moment everyone saw it, the crowd dispersed in fear.

“It's a N’tari plant seed. Its poisons make us really weak and sleepy. She must have grown them when she got control of the ship,” Zyx said, still standing a distance away from me.

“So how will it affect you guys up there? Or she's just using it to store it until she's ready?”

“I don't think so. There's something I'm suspecting and I truly hope it's not what's happening. We need to find the King!” Zyx said, panic filling his tone

“Here,” I handed the poison over to Trent, “you guys should go through all the vents and pull them out. Then, ransack the entire ship, even the waste area and production rooms, for any chance of it. Tell all the humans that this is an order from your queen,” I instructed him and he did a salute in response.

I felt awkward, so I just nodded to him, and he ran off.

“He said he was going to the kitchen,” Zyx said when I held his shoulder so we could teleport to Xavier.

We got there and he was sitting down, drinking water.

“Fuck!” Zyx exclaimed and ran to the pantry, leaving me perplexed.

“What is happening?” Xavier asked me but his voice sounded off.

Something was indeed wrong. He was doing the breathing exercises he taught me so I knew he was struggling.

I went closer to him and was about to hold him to examine him when Zyx ran out of the pantry and yelled at me.

“Stop!” He screamed, pausing me in my steps. “Don't touch him, please. We can't have both of you infected. Tiara, he's got the N’tari in his body feeding off his energy. Help me catch it,” he instructed the head cook.

I saw the shock on her face and I knew this was a huge problem.

I stood awkwardly by the side while they tried to save my husband, me, the powerful one, practically useless.

What if they didn't succeed in whatever they were doing because they weren't strong enough. Yet here I was, not helping.

I didn't really understand what they were doing, but Tiara held his tail tightly in her hand, and Zyx was speaking in Zorvathian language while trying to force some leaves in his mouth. He hit his chest repeatedly as well.

Meanwhile, Xavier was no longer doing his breathing exercises and he was looking very weak and tired.

His head lolled to the side and Zyx slapped him awake.

“Your Highness!” Tiara yelled as he closed his eyes.

“Isn't there anything I can do? What if I take control of his mind and force him awake?”

“Then it'll jump into your own mind and who knows what it could do to you?” she answered me. “You're brimming with so much power it'll be more difficult to bring it out.”

After repeating the process until all the leaves were in his mouth, they left him.

“What now?” I croaked, not even aware of the tears in my eyes already.

“Wait, it's coming out,” who was out of breath answered me.

“What is… oh,” I gasped as giant spider-like creatures crawled out of my husband's orifices.

His mouth, ear, and nose.

But as they were coming out, they were dying immediately.

“I'm going to kill that bitch,” I swore in anger, plotting how to make sure Lyra-en begged for death.

But that was a future problem because Xavier slumped on the kitchen chair after the last parasite crawled out.

“Fuck!” Exclaimed Zyx and that only made things worse.
