CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND THIRTY-THREE

The party ended late into the night and we had to stay back considering we were the one the party was thrown for and Koi was still nowhere to be found so leaving these strangers to themselves here didn't sound like a good idea.

I had sent off Roe, Xander and the girls earlier on in the night and I charged them with ensuring our children's safety.

So we played the perfect host until 1am the next day.

Finally sending off the last official in the car provided for them, some were heading back to our new house/palace but the rest were placed here in the capital building.

It was a lathe edifice with everything in one place. Xavier was talking about moving the defense system to a different location to reduce casualties.

After sending off the servants as well, Xavier and I teleported back home.

We got to the door of the room we'd chosen but before we could walk in, I smelt something off.

“Wait,” I said, holding Xavier back.

“What's wrong baby?” He asked, giving me a once over.

“Can you smell that?” I asked, inhaling more of the weird smell coming from inside the room.

It was sulphuric but also had a tangy side to it.

“I can't smell anything and I'm really tired, let's go to bed okay? We'll figure it out tomorrow,” he replied, a slight irritation in his tone.

But I had learned my lesson about ignoring my instincts so I took my hand away from his and moved backwards.

He was also pissing me off with the attitude, we'd been over this before and my instincts always had a weird way of showing me what was wrong but I haven't been wrong in awhile now. He should know to trust me and he'd promised to do that even if I was wrong.

“What's wrong with you?” He snapped, not hiding his irritation anymore.

“Open the door,” I replied curtly, waving my hand in the direction of the door.

I wasn't in the mood to even get angry with him anymore, it had been a long day and as powerful as I was now, I was still human and prone to extreme tiredness.

He looked at me weirdly and humphed before going to do just that.

He pushed it open, rougher than necessary and nothing happened.

My face fell and I was about to start blaming myself for overthinking something as odd as smell but a loud scream came from Xavier, startling me.

A tussle began in room, making me rush in to investigate.

The animal whose head was hung over the former King's bed had it's fangs deep in Xavier's leg.

It was a large, taller than me even in it's bent state. It had red eyes and it was so black I felt it would be greasy because of it.

Xavier was hitting its head, both from pain and a need to hurt the beast but the animal had its leg dug into the ground and wasn't moved a bit.

I mentally reached into it's heart and squeezed really hard, making it finally let go of his leg but I could see two of its long teeth still deep in Xavier's leg.

As the animal screamed, servants and soldiers ran into the room,. wondering what was happening.

Meanwhile, the animal was proving hard to kill, only howling, a disturbing sound really.

I let go of it's heart for a second and it fixed those red, angry orbs at me, a snarl emanating from his incomplete teeth.

It leaped in my direction but I teleported away from there and it landed on the ground.

“Your Majesty, we need to evacuate this building! The Borui is impossible to kill!” Someone yelled outside but I grabbed his heart again as it turned in search of me.

Then I plucked it's eyes.

It's howls coincided with the gasp of outside

“Someone get a doctor for your prince and I need Koi in chains in the next five minutes!” I yelled as I kept battling with the animal.

I was trying really hard to pull out it's heart but it's skin was tougher than rock.

“What?” Someone gasped in response to my instructions, making me face the crowd outside.

It seemed all the servants and some of the dignitaries that were placed here were all watching me hang my hands in the air while the animal screamed.

I looked at Xavier still trying to pull out the teeth from his leg.

I turned back to them and steeled my features.

“I gave an instruction and if you all don't want to take the place of this animal, I demand action immediately!” I snapped and that set them into action.

“Ahh!” I heard Xavier's scream but I couldn't look back because the Borui or whatever they called it was getting over the pain in I was inflicting on it.

Suddenly I felt a body wrap around mine, Xavier's.

I didn't even know it was possible to do what he did without controlling my mind but he merged his energy with mine.

He was breathing heavily in my head, the sound making me feel things I definitely shouldn't be feeling considering we were in the middle of getting chewed up by a strange wild animal.

He put my head on his shoulder and wrapped his other hand around my waist, probably to steady himself buty body was thinking about something else entirely.

Then the beast growled, no longer screaming as before and every iota of emotion disappeared, leaving only fear and the determination to live beyond tonight.

Xavier helped direct it's heart all over the beast's body, looking for a soft spot so we could pull it out.

“There!” I exclaimed when I felt somewhere soft enough.

“Smart girl,” he said to me, making me blush pink. “On the counter of three, okay?” He said and I nodded.

“One, two, three!”

We pushed so hard that the beast's blood out, hitting people at the door

The heart, beating fast and hard was crushed into pieces.

Immediately that happened, the Borui dropped dead on the ground and loud cheers erupted and that was when I realized that there were actually mobile phones on this planet

One person had been capturing the entire scene but the moment the beast fell, cameras flashed in my face.

Then the crowd parted, letting in a bound Koi.
