CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FORTY-TWO

As I walked around him to gently lay Tessa down on the bed, the idiot began to speak.

And I let him.

“Your highness, I'm grossly disappointed to realize that you endangered our lives just for this human. When you made her queen, everyone was against it because we knew she'd make you weak and now, we all nearly lost our lives because you put this lowlife above us!” He vented, and the entire room went pin drop silent, only the beeping machines interrupting it.

“Astrum,” I called, struggling to hold back Xy’thern who wanted to tear him into tiny bits.

“Yes?”

Oh wow, even my title has escaped his brain.

“Did you just call my Luminari a lowlife?”

His eyes widened, suddenly realizing how far he'd gone.

“I didn't.. I didn't mean that particular part, I'm just saying you are no longer the king we used to know. You've grown very soft and your days as our prince were better than now. I mean, look at you telling us to treat humans as equals! It's barbaric!”

“How did you even become a regional head with this sort of brain, Astrum?” Zyx snapped at him as everyone stared at me, expecting some form of reaction.

But Tessa was here and I was feeding her my energy.

I didn't want her to start having nightmares because of me.

“Follow me,” I commanded and walked out of the room. “Fanny, make sure no one else enters this room,” I commanded and everyone trailed behind me as I walked towards the dungeon.

“Seriously?!” He yelled as he realized what was happening but he couldn't turn back now, there were over fifteen guards behind him. “I give you my opinion and you throw me into the dungeon? How are you any different from your father, huh?!”

He kept rattling off words that were meant to hurt me, including the ones Seth used to drill into me as a child.

But I was calm, like a tiger before he pounced on its prey.

When we finally got to the dungeon, which was divided into two, I heard scrambling from the inside.

The two part doors were thick and black, and can only be opened with my fingerprint.

I pushed the other one open and then the only occupant of the other one, Corbin began banging on his side of the door.

“I'm sorry, please let me out!!”

“Is that..” the people at my back wondered.

Only Zyx and Lyra-en knew about Corbin being locked up. I was keeping him down there until I was ready for him but I guess it's not a bad thing for the entire ship to know what happens if I get betrayed.

I unlocked the other door and pushed it open. Then I stepped aside for the guards to throw a struggling Astrum inside.

My mind went to how we'd met on my trip to Russia when I was still just a young Prince.

He'd been assigned to aid my inspection of the gas production there and we had candid conversations that made me see him as a fearless ky’rhan, capable of getting things done and defying the order instead of going with the flow.

But seeing him think just like every other old council member and insulting me and my woman while at it, I won't just strip him of his position but he'd regret ever raising his voice against Tessa.

“Down there is a Cobra. It won't kill you, don't worry. You both can become great friends while he injects you with venom that'll keep you in a perpetual state of pain or you climb the pole in the middle of this dungeon and stay on top of it until we land in Zorvath,” I explained to him like he was a little child.

“But I can't climb!” He exclaimed, fear gutting his mind.

“None of us can,” I replied with a smirk and stepped back on the narrow path. “Will you jump in with dignity or you need a little assistance?”

My voice was cold but it was the effect of his words, I couldn't find a tiny drop of mercy in my soul where he was concerned. Besides, people needed to realize I was serious about changing things.

The difference between the humans and me under my father's rule was that I was his son and they were his subjects.

He abused me physically, verbally and emotionally. It was why I refused to have children with a random human woman and then send her off to replace her with a ky’rhan wife. If I was to ever continue my bloodline, it'll be with the same person I marry and regardless of his protests, I insisted on it.

I was grateful for that decision as it led me to the perfect woman ever.

Astrum held onto the door, his pathetic pleas irritating me.

“I'll do anything! Please!”

I raised my leg and pushed him off the floor and I heard him grab the pole and slide down with a loud scream.

I jammed the door afterwards and turned around.

“Does anyone else have a problem with me picking flowers for my girl?” I asked with a smile.

“No, your Majesty,” they chorused, fear etched in their expressions.

I hated that my father was right in this situation. Cuddling ky’rhans was only going to get you disrespected and that would lead to an ineffective rule.

They understood strength, pain and power. That was why only the strongest of us became King.

I walked back to my room and laid down with her, my mind at peace for the moment.

I couldn't wait for her to wake up so I could show her what I built for her. The thought of her surprise made me giddy like a little boy.

Hopefully, she wakes up soon, it's been two days already.

One week later and Tessa was still in coma, making me terrified.

I was tired of asking the doctor questions that he'd already answered.

Yes, he's done his best.

Yes, she's fully healed

And yes, the baby is fine.

‘So why isn't she waking up?’
