CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY-FOUR
“You do?” Aisen exclaimed in shock just as everyone turned to her.
“Yeah, it's the reason our planet is submerged in water and our ancestors had to adapt in water. It's been centuries since it was last sighted but you have to try to pacify it. That's what it's waiting for and if you don't, I don't know what your species are incapable of but it's probably already doing it,” she explained.
“Baby, call Zyx and ask him to check on country side if there are any abnormal growth of trees,” I said to Xavier.
“I don't even need to, I've been seeing it all morning. Every area where your plants aren't growing in, there's a tree growing too fast. I was going to talk about it with you later because it made no sense until now,” he replied.
“So what do we do to pacify it?” I asked Lily.
“I don't really know because they didn't hence our planet being filled with water but one thing is that since you have a connection to the universe, you can speak to all entities in their language so you can ask it what it wants. Probably throw him at it,” she added as an afterthought, giving Aisen a smothering look.
“You can understand ky'rhan?” Xavier asked me with a proud smile.
“Yes, and Drakkonian too. It just happens, I don't know how,” I explained, feeling shy all of a sudden.
I'd never spoken about the strange occurrence until now.
“Now that prophecy makes sense,” Aran said, finally sitting down on another couch, and I noticed it was very far from Aisen.
“What prophecy?” Xavier asked, frowning.
“According to them, the universe has been looking for someone worthy of their power and found me, this I'll be important for something,” I replied with a nonchalant shrug.
I didn't really care for any prophecy, I just wanted my people to be safe and nothing more.
“This is just the beginning of it though, you're going to be uniting the entire Milky Way,” she replied with a faraway look.
“Um, let's not get ahead of ourselves. We'll have to eliminate this threat first before ky'rhans would have to become monkeys. So let's go, I'm already dressed for our date night,” I replied, standing up.
Xavier dragged me over to him and took my face in his hands.
“I feel terrible about all of this,” he sighed, “I promised to give you a paradise, instead, you're saving said paradise in every way.”
“So far I have you with me, that's all that really matters. Besides, what paradise doesn't need protection?”
He kissed me and I completely forgot we were among people until Aisen coughed out loud.
“Oh shut up! This is the love you tried so hard to destroy you slimy devil!” Aran snarled at him.
I chuckled a bit at her words and the way he recoiled back into his red self.
“Let me get my suit, we'll leave in a few minutes,” Xavier said before disappearing to go get changed.
It was funny how he'd beaten the shit out of Aisen without his suit from work getting torn.
“Ladies,” Aisen spoke up as we say around, waiting for my husband. They both looked up at him with an angry expression. “Through the last few weeks, I've been trying to convince myself that you and all the women rebelling against our way of doing things were wrong but tonight, a proper, grown male has shifted my perspective and I really want to start changing by apologizing to you guys,” he finished and then went on his knees.
“What are we supposed to do with this?” Lily asked me, and I could see she was confused.
He had hurt her for a long time and now thinks he can be absolved of his actions with just a few words.
“I don't think he deserves forgiveness,” I began, “but you need to cut all ties to him so you'll have peace and move on so it's probably best to do that.”
“Thank you so much Tessa,” he said to me.
“It's Your Majesty to you,” I snapped, irritated at the familiarity in his tone.
The asshole had kidnapped me and taken me away from my son at such a gender age and here he was in my house, acting like we were buddies.
To worsen the matter, he'd brought a threat to our world, people have died for lesser crimes.
“I'm sorry, Your Majesty,” he said lowly but I wasn't paying attention to him anymore. Xavier was taking too long to come out.
“You're forgiven but make sure you and I never come across each other again,” Aran said to him.
“But how?”
“Don't be stupid, the universe is a large place, stay in your red planet and find someone else to attend your meetings here. The next time we see, I'll be stronger than this and you don't want me to remember all you did to break me,” she snapped.
He nodded quickly.
It was weird seeing him all weak and complacent compared to the raging storm he used to be.
I was about to go look for Xavier when he got back, wearing his battle suit, the black shining in the fluorescent light.
“Sorry, I was checking in on Xander,” he explained immediately.
“Is he crying?”
“No, why would he? He rarely does,” he asked with a frown.
“When we get back, I have something to tell you but for now, we have to go. It's getting late,” I said and I could already feel the fatigue crawling into my body.
The excitement I had because of the date had been replaced with dread.
Everyone seemed so confident in my abilities but I was scared of failure.
Of course I would understand what whatever this entity said but what if it was too angry and killed us on sight?
What was I supposed to say to it to convince it to not turn our planet into a large forest?
These thoughts were on my mind as we boarded Aisen's jet, making me very quiet.
Until we flew up and I heard a voice in my head.
“If they come any closer, they'll be dinner,” it whispered to itself.
