CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND NINETEEN
I quickly began to try my other abilities on him. I tried pulling air away from his lungs or killing him from inside like I'd done with those Draks but he was very unaffected.
I threw my hand out to catch his neck, but it was like he had something blocking my hand, making me gasp.
“What's happening?” Corbin asked, noticing the shocked look on my face. “Oh!” He exclaimed and burst out into a maniacal laugh. “You thought I'd be affected too? You crazy girl, you thought I was going to be affected by that parlor trick of yours?”
“I don't understand,” I whispered and looked at Xavier who was even struggling to move due to the time freeze on the ship.
But he was moving.
“Come on Tessa, you seem to have forgotten I was on par with your husband before he got with you and unlocked his powers,” Corbin replied and began walking towards me. “Now I'm giving you the last chance, be a good girl and take a stroll into that pretty prison while I reorganize things out here, okay?” He said in an irritating tone.
By now, Xavier was behind him, but his movements were still slowed down, and Corbin was moving towards me with Xander in his arms.
I wished I had a way to communicate with Xavier at that moment besides our eyes because all I could see in his -and I was sure it reflected in mine too - was fear.
When Corbin got closer to me, I noticed he had recently gotten shaved and the ribbon he tied his now long hair with was from my wardrobe.
Lyra-en had planned this thoroughly.
I didn't see myself actually doing what he wanted without at least putting up a fight. I wasn't doing anything combative now because he had Xander in his arms but still, something needed to be done.
“If you insist on locking me up, I need to take my son with me. He's exhausted his alternative feeding while I was kidnapped,” I asked in a small voice, hoping he believes I'm truly defeated.
But he shook his head.
“Nice try but no. He'll eat adult food like a true Zorvathian. Besides, If he cries too much, I'll just kill him,” he said with a shrug.
“So there's no point in her going willingly then. You're going to kill our son either way because he's a threat to whatever nonsense you've filled your head with,” Xavier answered right before he jumped on Corbin, grabbing around his neck.
I rushed towards them, looking for an entrance to take Xander away from him but he held on tightly. He knew the child was his only leverage and held on even as he struggled to free himself from Xavier’s firm grip.
Corbin raised his foot and kicked him harshly and he fell down, making me gasp.
He wasn't completely healed, and the time freeze was affecting him, so I turned it off immediately.
“Oh good, I was waiting for you to stop being so dramatic with that time-freeze crap,” he muttered in my direction before facing his new minions. “Take her to the dungeons!” He commanded them.
Three of the men rushed towards me immediately, they were obviously excited at the prospect of locking me up.
But it was only Corbin that was out of my power's reach, not these ky'rhans so the moment one of them touched me, his ankle broke in a weird position.
“Ah!” He screeched in pain and I took it further, breaking every single bone in his body.
He was dead in a matter of seconds.
“You bitch!” the one next to him screamed and dragged my hair.
I electrocuted him.
The third guy began stepping away but something was growing inside me.
A bloodthirst that wanted to be satisfied no matter how.
So, while the crowd around me screamed different things for different reasons, all I could see was red, and I made it spray out of the soldier's body, from every pore and orifice in his body, even his eyes.
But I wasn't satisfied.
I went at Corbin again and I could feel his resistance begin to wane.
I kept pushing, I was so angry that I was willing to sacrifice everything to see blood, one that was his, pour out from his body.
But he kept holding me at bay. I felt like nothing could quench this hunger for blood except his so I kept going at him, trying different things, even hurling things from around the room at him.
But he seemed to have a strong ward around him.
I suddenly felt a pair of arms around my shoulders and I could tell it was Xavier.
“Baby, what's happening? You need to stop attacking him before he hurts our son,” he whispered into my ears but I shook my head.
“I have to… I need to…” I growled while still throwing things and trying to drag his brains into pieces.
“You better listen to your husband you foolish girl!” Corbin yelled at me, his voice sounding strained. “I won't hesitate to kill this child of yours and there's nothing you'll be able to do to get him back. All of these powers will be a curse because you can do everything but get him back!” He promised me but I wasn't listening to a word he was saying.
I couldn't process it, not even when a soldier handed him a knife and he took it with shaky hands.
“Corbin!” Xavier yelled, leaving me to run towards his cousin. “Don't you fucking dare!”
“Stay right there or I'll cut him to pieces right now!” Corbin yelled back.
The knife fell out of his hand, I hadn't stopped trying to break his internal and external barriers.
“Xavier, come, let's do this together; he's getting weaker,” I said to him.
“Are you for real right now?” He yelled at me angrily “Do you by chance want our son to die?”
“Don't be ridiculous, why would I do that?”
“I'm not being ridiculous, you are the one blinded by so much bloodlust that you forgot he can kill our son with one flick of his finger!”
I was taken aback by his words and that gave Corbin enough time to regain his strength and reinforce his wards.
He bent down and picked up the knife and stood tall, stronger somewhat.
“This isn't the right place for your couple squabbles, although it gives me great joy to see you guys going at it,” Corbin cut in with a cruel smile. “very satisfying, but enough of all of this drama. I'm going to send my men to you now and you'll follow them without any tantrums. I need to go rescue their true queen from where you had her locked up and I'm wasting time here.”
The craving for his blood had reduced a bit, and the fear increased as he stared deep into my eyes while dramatically drawing the knife closer and closer to Xander's chest.
Before the men he sent could get to me, I began hearing a strange sound, a song.
It took a few seconds before the others did, too, and by then, I was already feeling the drowsy effects of it.
“What is happening?” I asked as my eyes began shutting.
