CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN
Anna followed me as I left, and I could feel her worry dripping off her as she caught up with me.
“Tessa?” She called but I didn't stop walking. Each step took off a tiny bit of the overwhelming anger inside me. “Are you sure about this? You could get caught,”
This made me pause.
“You think I care about my life right now?” I snapped, my voice rising higher than I intended but I couldn't help it. “Dad is dead! Because of me, Anna, because. of. me!” I reiterated, a tear dropping from my eyes. “I have to do something because if something happens to Momma, I'll kill myself and end all of this once and for all so it's best I sacrifice my life and get her back,”
“But you can just.. I don't know what to say. All of this is so fucked up!” She screamed in frustration.
I felt that surge of exasperation too, the hopelessness. How does he claim to love me and put me into this crap just because I didn't want to go with him?
“And if he doesn't want you dead?” Katie asked, her form lounging on a tree nearby
“What do you mean? If he catches her in this operation, she's dead,”
“Come on Anna, don't be stupid. Men are the same everywhere regardless of their species. Until their toys are broken, they'll keep it close and your sister still has a lot of fight in her. She's not going to be killed just because she tried to fight him. They'll simply have a little bit of hate sex and she's back to his side,”
“You still harbor this resentment towards me because of my position? You think I wanted this?! I begged that man to impregnate me and let me go just like everyone else and he forced me to sign a wedding contract even before the one you saw,” I shouted in her direction, her eyes widening. “I don't think you understand what is happening and you're so fucking insensitive for making this situation about yourself. You can either come with us or stay back here and wait for Corbin. But for me? I'm walking into that capital with or without you guys. I'm not losing my mother today,” I exclaimed and walked into my tent, leaving her stunned.
I wore jeans and a white shirt with black leather jacket and walked out again.
“You'll stay back here with Taiwan,” I told Anna and she protested but I stopped her, “ if the attack is successful, we'll need you guys to upload that app immediately. They'll be too busy trying to contain us to be able to realize what is happening,”
“Oh, okay,” she finally agreed. “Will you come back?”
That's one part I'd not thought about completely.
My plan was to kill Xavier Seth but will I be able to go through with it?
I realized I'd taken too long to reply to my sister and she was getting worried.
I quickly hugged her tightly, her tears echoing my heart’s wild beats
“I'll be back, I promise. And I'll come back with Momma,” I promised her even though I had no clear cut plan on how to do that.
I finally let her go and we went to Kane’s tree.
He had just come down from it and called for a table to be brought to him.
“Do you have a plan?” I asked in apprehension.
“Yes but it all depends on your ability to distract him so if you can do, we'll all be fine,”
“For how long?”
“Thirty minutes is perfect,” he replied as Lina brought the chair for him.
Well, hate sex it is then.
I watched with keen interest as he laid out an elaborate plan to bomb five different places, one of them being the secretariat.
“If you guys can find where those pods are kept, that'll be really good,” I added when he described the location.
He had selected ten strong resistance members, three women and seven men, and with the both of us included, that brought the number up to twelve.
I watched in interest as everyone took their roles and there was an enthusiasm that spread around the group. Finally, something was actually going to happen.
Jamal stood at the edge of his tree, his phone in hand and I had a hint he was constantly calling Corbin to see if he would reach him but if his information to me is accurate, Corbin was running around town, chasing fake leads about me and would definitely not be aware of any of these plans until something went boom in the air.
“Everyone needs to be concise in their plans, we don't have enough phones to communicate, so you must follow your timer. We're all going to work as a unit, including you, your highness,”
Everyone nodded and Kane wrapped up his map.
“I wanna come with,” Katie spoke up from the crowd and we turned towards her.
“I asked for volunteers and you didn't show interest. What changed?” Kane asked, and he seemed to be upset by her eleventh hour show of interest.
“I apologize for the tardiness, I guess I needed a little convincing,” the crowd began murmuring "If I'm to risk my life for her, I need to be sure she's worth it.”
“Am I?”
She looked at me and nodded.
“Well, shit is getting real guys. I'm ready when you are,”
“But I'm the leader of this group, how are you going on a mission without me?” Jamal asked, his tone flat. You never know what he's truly feeling since he says everything the same way. I wondered if he moaned in a laissez-faire tone too, or that was what brought him out of his shell.
“It's your choice buddy, no one is being forced to do this,”
“And I'm not saying we shouldn't go. Just wait a few more hours for him,” he insisted.
I rolled my eyes.
“Come on Jamal, I understand your obsession with Corbin,” Katie addressed him. “He saved a lot of us from near death as well but this matter is completely different. We can't wait for his approval to destroy his own people. He has helped set us up, and we have killer equipment to work with. We can apologize to him later if he's upset instead of wasting our time waiting for an approval that'll never come,”
“Ugh, fine. I'm not sure I want to go with you guys but here are the keys to the weapons room. I'll give you from my poison collection as well,” he said, throwing the keys to Kane and walking towards the direction of his mini zoo.
I heaved a deep sigh, even though my heart was beating wildly.
I guess we were going to attack the capital tonight.
Xavier wanted to see me and see me he will; only he might not survive it.
