CHAPTER SEVENTY-THREE

The entire day was pretty fast after that and I decided to go into Xavier's office to get approval for the plans I'd drafted with Ethel and Tricia.

It contained not just the costs but suggestions for the location of the event and collaboration with the personal assistants of each RH to avoid anybody dying on me because of allergies or something.

Immediately I walked into the lobby, it was chaos.

“So she's the boss of you now?! You take father away and then leave the rest of us in penury just so that bitch could lick your double tubes! Is that what makes you feel powerful, huh?!” Some ky’rhan lady, dressed in jeans and a black top yelled at Xavier. He folded his hands, his face passive as she rained hateful words on his face.

I know she mentioned father but I thought I'd seen all of Xavier’s siblings, so I couldn't figure who this was and why she was talking to him like that.

Until she turned around and I realized why the voice sounded familiar. It was indeed his sister, just in her ky’rhan form and she looked terrifying.

“You! How dare you!?” She screamed at me the moment she saw me, standing there with the files in hand.

“Stop it, Kayla. Pour all your anger in my direction but don't talk to my wife like that,” Xavier rebutted her, waving me over with a smile.

The simple act made me blush so much that I used the file to hide my face.

Kayla watched me, mortified at her brother's actions and when he kissed me, on the lips too, she was so horrified she screeched in frustration.

“What the hell is wrong with you!?”

Xavier paused his attention to my lips and slowly shifted my hair to ear delicately before turning to his sister who was way past the point of livid.

“What did you say your problem was again? I wasn't paying attention,” he asked in a tone that would piss me off too if I were in her position.

“She took my job away from me!” She shouted, fingers angrily pointed at me.

“Wait, you had a job? Since when?” He asked, a look of surprise that I knew was fake spread across his face.

Whatever game he was playing, I was happy to just watch. I'd thought I'd be the one fighting this battle but he was doing so good at it that I wanted to just grab him and kiss the fuck out of his lips. I was giddy as hell but I had to calm down so I didn't spoil whatever he was doing.

“Yes, I did and she took it the moment you took mother's crown and put on her uneducated, little head!” she snapped, and his easy look switched to anger.

He stalled towards her and his tail swished so hard I thought it'll hit her all the way from his back. She noticed the change in his demeanor and her face showed the gradual realization that she might have done something terribly wrong.

“What did you just call my wife?” He asked and even though his voice was low, the anger in them was palpable, the dangerous kind.

“Um, I em..” she stumbled on her own words, confused at the change in his attitude. Girl, me too. Your half brother is a myriad of emotions.

He grabbed her neck, and not in the way that'll make anybody’s panties drip, she was scared.

“Let this be the last time you waltz in here screaming profanities at my Luminari again. If you do, I'll have Marina teach you some manners,” he snarled and her eyes widened in fear. “Would you like that?” He continued and she shook her head as much as she could well, with the constriction on her breathing organ.

I wanted to step in but he was doing all of this for me and I didn't want to undermine it and she was already running with the ridiculous idea that I controlled the man who terrified everyone, including me. I didn't want to make that idea enlarge by making any sort of move so I watched it play out.

He roughly took his hands away from her throat and she bent over in violent coughs, making me feel bad even though she was cussing me out a few moments ago.

He stood back and watched her as she battled with her throat and when it seemed she was doing this for theatrics, he reached and pulled her up, shutting off the coughing fit immediately.

Seeing this side of him made me realize I was nuts for thinking he hated me when he was being so harsh for the last few days. If he had shown me this side of him, I would have gone crazy.

“Apologize,” he commanded Kayla who looked at him like he'd grown two heads.

She opened her mouth like a fish fresh out of its tank in a gasp that I knew she couldn't control.

“It's really..,” I tried stopping the whole exchange but he gave me a stern look and I swallowed my objections quickly “Oh, okay” I said, taking a few steps back, not wanting any transfer of aggression from whatever was happening.

“APOLOGIZE!” Xavier screamed and everyone in that vicinity jumped in fear.

“I'm sorry! I'm sorry! Please please,” the girl blubbered, getting on her knees immediately, crawling in my direction.

“It's okay, please Xavier it's really okay,” I begged, needing this whole debacle to be over.

Damn! I was having goosebumps already and he didn't even physically hurt her, that's if you don't count her heart jumping out of its position in her chest.

“Out! And tell mother to stop dropping those nasty emails in my phone. I'm already married and don't need any other woman,” he said and I doubt the girl heard anything he said after the word ‘out’ because she damn near flew away from the office she had proudly walked into earlier.

I was still frozen in place when Xavier walked back to me, his face all dazzling smiles and passionate happiness as though he hadn't nearly driven his sister mad.

“So, what did you want to talk about?”
