CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FIFTY
Fanny looked at us as if he'd seen a ghost.
Immediately, Xavier grabbed him by the throat, nearly killing him already, making me step in.
“Baby, you know, he doesn't have to die. I'm sure there's a good reason why he did this,” I began, giving Xavier a coy smile.
Fanny was having a coughing fit, by the way.
“Well, he better have a good explanation or I'll give him as a gift to those snake-like aliens that nearly killed me,” he grumbled, hiding the grin I know he held in.
We'd agreed on the good cop - Bad cop tactics and I was close to bursting into laughter.
Fanny wasn't escaping this scenario with his life intact but he didn't need to know that.
Zyx brought two chairs for me and Xavier and we focused on Fanny who was finally recovering from the attention Xavier paid to him earlier.
“Now, we don't want this to get messy, okay? I can be quite squeamish about these things. What you did not only fucked with me but my unborn child is going to live a difficult life because he was trying to save me from your cruelty,” I said, my voice filled with sadness. “But the way you acted is just so unlike you, Fanny. We may not be best of friends but I see you and I'd like to say I know you a bit so I just want to wrap my head around this whole situation.”
He was silent, staring a hole into the floor.
“Speak!” Xavier screamed, hitting him hard on the head.
“Ahh!” He cried, carrying his bleeding forehead on his hands.
“Baby, just give him a second, he'll talk.”
He wasn't speaking and I was already getting tired of this game.
“What if we give him the Nexarion he gave me. Straight down his throat, unsweetened,” I said, my entire demeanor changing to how I truly felt inside.
Rage.
“Or we can get Corbin to try to redeem himself by going through his memory,” Zyx suggested and I was already shaking my head before he finished speaking.
“I don't trust him one bit,” I protested.
But what made me gasp was Fanny cackling at the mention of Corbin.
We all watched him, pausing all exchange to watch him hold his belly as he bellowed a sad laugh.
“Something you wanna tell us?” Zyx snapped.
“Corbin..hahahaha,” he sighed after words, shaking his head.
“Am I delusional or they both have a connection?” I said, standing up and pacing the room.
I needed to calm down before the lights start cackling again.
“I'll go get the interrogation room ready. I think we'll piece everything together when they're both in the same room,” Zyx said and Xavier nodded to him to go ahead.
“I think you should be at him up a little bit more. I want to study his reaction when they see each other,” I said, folding my arms across my chest.
“Gladly,” Xavier replied and proceeded to redecorate Fanny's face.
I wanted to go with Xavier as he was going to get Corbin but I didn't feel up to fasting him yet.
“I'll wait here for you. I'll keep an eye on this one,” I told him and sat back down.
He tied Fanny up properly and kissed my forehead before going out.
***
We stared at each other, rage in my eyes and fear in his.
“You are used to pain,” I observed.
“This kind of pain is easier,” he replied with a groan, spitting out the blood that has collected in his mouth.
“Compared to?”
“Being so close to what you want that you can literally smell it and but someone comes and snatches it away from you. It's torture,” he added, collapsing on the door.
“You're not making any sense,” I said, confused.
He had the life many Ky'rhans dreamed of.
He was a Moderate, a doctor and the King favored him and gave him his mansion’s clinic.
He literally had Xavier's life in his hands and yet, he was not satisfied.
He refused saying anything else until the door opened and Xavier walked in, and I saw blood on his shirt.
It was black, unlike Fanny’s red one.
“Come on traitor, let's get this show on the road,” Xavier said, losing his shackles and teleporting him away.
I noticed a paper had fallen out as he was moved and I walked closer to the bed, taking the paper.
“My love, if you want to sit this one out, I don't mind it. It's probably gonna get quite gruesome,” Xavier said, a sign of warning in his eyes.
“What happened to taking it easy on him?”
“I don't think that's gonna work. He's either in shock or he believes his pain tolerance is too high. I'll need to prove him wrong and that's not a pretty business.”
“I'll come with. If I get uncomfortable, I'll let you know,” I said and got closer to him. “But something inside of me wants him to bleed and not just the little ones coming out of his pores here. I need him to be really hurt,” I finished and the look on his face showed how shocked he was.
But I didn't care. I would destroy anyone that tried to hurt my child and Fanny had actually hurt him. He deserved to suffer a long and painful death.
“It's alright, let's go.”
As we walked out, I handed him the letter I'd seen and we paused by the hallway to look at it.
I frowned as I read the content of the letter.
“Fanny is gay?!” I exclaimed in shock.
Ky’rhans were extremely homophobic, adding to the pile of things I hated about them.
“He has a family, baby. I don't get this,” Xavier expressed his shock.
“Is his wife aware of this?” Then remembered what he'd said about nearly getting what he wanted. “Maybe he did all of this because… no, that doesn't make sense.”
“What is that?”
“He said he nearly had something and it was taken away from him. So maybe he was supposed to be with Corbin in a way? I don't understand where hurting me helps him achieve that.”
“Well, let's stop wondering and go and find out.”
