CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FORTY-SEVEN

**TESSA'S POV**

“I'm really, really hungry,” I whispered as the doctor fussed over me while Xavier loomed over him like consequences.

Their eyes widened like I'd done something impossible. Wasn't I allowed to eat?

From what I remembered, I'd been in this coma for about two weeks. Even though my body was kept alive with whatever injections Fanny added on top of the poison he kept injecting me with, I was still hungry.

Famished would be a better description because my stomach started to hurt.

“Doctor, please check if the baby's okay,” I said, scared something was happening.

“Oh. Um.. okay, just lay back down and I'll set up an ultrasound. Your highness, please get Theresa to bring her food,” the new doctor said and ran outside to probably bring in the ultrasound.

It would have been easier to get me to go there instead but I guess I'd have to accept being treated like breakable eggs after the ordeal I'd just been through.

“How do you… feel?” Someone asked and I turned my head to the side, finally noticing my only real friends in this crazy world I'd gotten caught up in.

“Roe!” I exclaimed in excitement and rushed to get up.

“Wait wait wait!” Xavier exclaimed, breaking out of his dumbfounded state to rush to my side on the bed. “Please no sudden movements, okay? We don't want you hurting yourself.”

“Puuleasee,” I rolled my eyes. “I'm perfectly fine. That's if you don't count this stomach pain and the state of my feelings,” I replied, getting up to hug my friends.

He watched me, his features showing how tense he was. Even his eyes were flickering back and forth.

When I was done hugging Roe, it seemed my brain snapped back together.

“Wait, you are no longer pregnant or I'm going crazy?” I asked, my head feeling woozy.

She smiled, her eyes lighting up.

“Rosie gave birth to a beautiful baby blue boy. He's so perfect,” Lisbeth gushed and I knew my godmother position had been taken while I was fighting my own memories.

“Really?” I gushed excitedly, although I was sad about missing the whole experience, I was happy my friend had finally given birth and she looked really strong afterwards. “Where's he? Go and bring him!”

“Okayy, no need to scream,” they laughed and rushed out together.

Those two were hitched together, always going everywhere together since we left Earth.

I sighed happily and went back to bed.

I rubbed my stomach, the pain reducing a little bit as I sat down.

“Are you alright?” I looked up to Xavier’s concerned face.

“Of Course!” I replied with a chuckle. He was acting like I'd disappear right in front of his eyes. “Why are you standing all the way there, come sit!” I patted the other side of the bed.

“Are you sure? I don't want to encroach on your space. You've been through so much and all of this happened right under my nose. Even Xy’thern is pissed at me. I'm so sorry,” he begged, his face melting my heart.

So I dragged him to lie down with his head on my leg.

The guards in the room began shuffling awkwardly, not knowing if to leave or stay.

“I'm sure it wasn't your fault. You didn't know about it, okay?”

“Wait, you know what happened to you?” He sat up, confused.

“I had woken up once and you weren't here. They looked shocked that I actually defeated that stupid voice and the torment they'd put me through. I screamed for help but there was no response before they succeeded in injecting me with it again,”

“Oh my goodness,” he said softly, his eyes shiny as though he was about to cry.

“And when you finally found out, I was half conscious and screaming in my mind for you to see what they were doing. I'm so happy you actually did because I couldn't stand being in there again. The second time was horrible and the visions I was forced to see? No, I don't think I can do that again. I would have gone nuts,” I finished and his eyes widened.

He gathered me in his arms and held me tightly.

“I'm so sorry for hurting you and disappointing you. I should have been more careful after the ordeal with Corbin. I haven't even apologized for not believing you. I'm such a terrible person,” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion.

I heard the door open and close and I thought I'd smell the scent of food but the silence let me know that the guards finally decided our moment was too private for them to gawk at and left.

“I forgive you for everything Xavier but why do I stink? You couldn't dip me in the pool or something?” I grumbled, playfully annoyed.

“You.. you want me to bathe you?” He stuttered in shock.

“That's not a bad thing. If you don't feel up to it, Xy’thern really knows what to do,” I replied with a smirk.

He quickly laid me on the bed and stood up.

“Let me go prepare the bath,” he spluttered and rushed into the bathroom. He immediately returned back and picked up his phone. “Why haven't you brought the food?!” He yelled at the unlucky fellow on the other end.

I watched him drop the phone and ran out of the room.

For the first time since I woke up, I had a chance to breathe my own oxygen.

I stood up and went to the mirror to look at myself.

My stomach was a bit swollen but not in the crazy way it was in that horrible place.

I'd told myself I won't think about it but that was proving quite difficult.

The door sprung apart and Theresa rushed in with a trolley of food.

“I didn't know what you'd be in the mood for so I brought.. um, everything?” She said, blushing a bit.

“Thank you Theresa, I'll get my friends and Xavier to help finish it. And here,” I said, giving her a plate before picking mine up. “You can have some.”

“Oh, I've already had breakfast. I'm not really..”

“I know you Theresa, you eat tiny portions like a bird so you're definitely hungry again.” I observed. “Besides, I'm not giving you much of a choice, love. Sit down and eat,”. I commanded and she shyly obeyed immediately.

I was in a forgiving mood and she wasn't exempt from it.

As I wolfed down the food, I completely forgot all about my stomach pain

Until Xavier and Doctor Memphis rolled in the ultrasound machine.

Hopefully, this was just hunger and nothing else.
