CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED EIGHT
Goosebumps danced across my pale skin and I couldn't move for a second.
“Maybe I'm dreaming,” I whispered to myself. I'd been missing him so much that now I'm seeing him in my dreams, and I remembered how it felt when he projected to me; it wasn't the same.
This was either very real or I was simply dreaming.
I turned on the lights to see clearly, hoping I wasn't imagining things because this was the answer to my secret prayers.
“Mia Cara,” he muttered, a lone tear escaping his eyes as he walked to me. “You're not dreaming, I'm really here.”
“But.. I thought… how,” I spluttered in confusion, everything feeling surreal all at once.
I could see Lily standing by the entrance, peeping in but not coming closer.
“I didn't know who was in the rocket and we were already getting ready for an attack until we'd gone past you,” he began explaining as he finally got close enough to touch. I was still too weak and shocked to do anything but stare at him. “Xy’thern, who had been a menace in my head since you were taken began screaming, almost taking over and taking us back, which would have been disastrous for both of us cause everyone would have collided and gone up in flames,” he said with a smile. Oh, how I've missed that from him. “I had to scream at him to tell me what was wrong and he yelled your name. Zyx was the one who clarified that I needed to check who was on this flight. Imagine my joy when it's actually indeed, you,” he finished and finally wrapped his arms around me.
I melted into him, tears pouring out of my eyes.
He looked rough, like he'd not had time to even sleep in days. I probably looked as bad considering I'd also not slept at all; only shutting my eyes for a few minutes and woken up by nightmares.
But then, he was here in the same spot with me.
Relief, joy, and that overwhelming feeling of love filled me as we stood together like that for a while.
I kept grabbing different parts of his body to be sure he was real and not a figment of my imagination.
“You came for me,” I whispered, filled with shock and gratitude. No wonder the location wasn't moving. He left the ship somewhere and came for me.
“Of course I did. Why would you even doubt that?”
“Wait, where's the ship and who did you leave it for? You guys already got to Zorvath?” I exclaimed, separating from him immediately.
“No, I handed the key to Lyra-en and kept it in a pocket I created in space. Although we need to start going back to avoid problems.”
That brought my brain out of that surreal state it was and I sprang into action.
“Um, can you get someone else to fly this thing? It's so difficult,” I told him while going to get our food bag.
“Leave it, I'll carry it,” he told me and took the sack from me. It was already small and I realized how fucked we'd have been if Xy'thern hadn't felt my presence in this vast space.
“Thank you,” I said and held him again, still shocked that this actually happened. I'd given up all hopes and yet, here he was in flesh and atomic matter.
“You never cease to amaze me, baby; how did you learn how to fly this thing?”
“It's a long story, I'll tell you later,” I whispered and knew I had to go meet the girls as they were already looking at me weirdly. “For now, come and meet my new friends.”
He followed me to the cockpit and Lily bowed to him immediately.
“This is Lily, she's a Pelagian. It's a water-filled planet, and I met her in the General’s house,” I explained to him.
They shook hands and pleasantries before I took him to Aran.
“And Aran has really helped with the whole escape thing, and I'd like you to help her go back to her planet when we settle down in Zorvath.”
“Nice to meet you guys. Thank you for taking care of my wife and that won't be a problem, Aran. Would you guys stay back here or you're coming with us?” he asked them.
“I'll stay back here since someone has to keep the ship floating,” Aran said and we nodded.
“Alright, I'll bring Zyx over to help out with that and that means we'll just leave the sack of food here.”
Immediately he finished talking, I noticed the ships form a U shape behind us, flying at the same speed as our rocket ship.
“Hold me tightly, Lily,” I told her as I grabbed onto Xavier.
That made him pause to look at me in concern.
“Are you alright love?”
“Yes, just a bit tired,” I replied tiredly, feeling the need to place my head down.
“Shit,” he cursed. “Lily, please stay here, I'll come get you. She's not aware of how tired she is, okay?”
“Oh, sorry, I can stay with Aran, you don't need to,” she replied and reluctantly let go of my hand.
I watched her walk to the second seat at the controls.
“Alright, Hun, hold your breath,” Xavier muttered and turned me around; then he lifted me up and carried me on his shoulder, and I wrapped my legs around him.
In seconds, the scenery changed.
“Your Majesty! Where do you go off to? We were confused and about to start shooting,” a soldier spoke up in agitation.
“Vargas, get me a blanket; your queen was the one in the ship you wanted to shoot down,” Xavier snapped at him.
That set the entire ship abuzz with hoots and excited cheers.
“Is she okay?” Zyx asked as he sat me down on a chair.
“She's weak. Bring food for her, she needs to rest,” he replied to him and took the blanket from the other guy.
“Hi,” I whispered, raising my hand to wave at Zyx and the other guys gathered around me with happy expressions.
“How?” Zyx whispered in awe. “We'd been so sure something had happened for you to not have teleported back immediately or at least killed them when you woke up from that injection.”
“How come no one is noticing the crown of thorns on my head?” I asked in confusion.
He looked closer and lifted my hair that had grown around it to see how deep it was shoved into my skin.
“Fuck,” he muttered, anger enveloping him. “I'm going to make every single one of them pay!”
“Yes but let's go back home, I need to hold my baby,” I said to him, in case he had any plans of flying into war now.
He looked that angry.
And that was what we did.
After giving me food to eat, he teleported Zyx to the other ship before he came back and held me in his arms while I slept.
I just hope those bastards are not on our tail because we definitely do not have enough energy for a clash in space.
