CHAPTER HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-EIGHT
I got greetings from my people as I walked around the ship, making sure the wards I put up were strong in every room.
I noticed how their eyes hid their sadness and disappointment.
Tessa may have forgiven me, proving her infinite love for me but the people I led depended on me to take them to a literal paradise without any mishaps on the way.
I'd failed them.
I didn't have the usual prideful stride I used to have; my shoulders were sunk an inch lower, and I wished I could do more for the families that had lost someone besides the burial and the promise of better.
“Your Majesty, should we start preparing the other ships now?” Zyx asked me as I got back to the command room after my rounds.
We'd worked on some of the ships from the last attack but the new ones we were running from were more sophisticated.
“Not yet, let's wait for them to catch up,” I told him, and he nodded. “What's the status of the army?”
“Five thousand more people joined since the last attack, and there's more zeal; they want to take them out, sir,” he replied, proud.
“That's great to hear. We stand a better chance of winning with a motivated troop. Keep them active, Zyx; I need the day off; I'll take over from you first thing tomorrow morning,” I instructed him.
“Yes sir!” He nodded, giving me a military-style salute, one of the things he'd been inculcating into the troops. It gave them a sense of discipline and I nodded at him before he left.
I called Lyra-en on the intercom I'd wired across the rooms all over the ship where Tessa had installed machine guns.
“Your Majesty,” she said into the receiver.
“I'll be off for a few hours, so keep everyone in check; they are not far behind,” I instructed before cutting the call.
I made similar arrangements and got the girl I'd gotten for Tessa to come to the baby's room so she could watch over him while we were alone.
When she walked in, Tessa’s friends were with her and that relaxed my mind a bit more.
“Let me know if you need anything at all,” I said to the older girl, showing her how the telecom worked.
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
I also sent Memphis to check on her, and when he came back with the instructions to let her sleep in a little bit more, I deep-dived into more work, making sure everything was taken care of.
By the time I finished, it was already mid-day. I made sure the ship carried over Earth's hours and weather across the days so people didn't get confused or too disoriented by the change.
I walked into the room and it seemed the sound of the door woke her up.
“Sorry,” I whispered with a smile and walked into the room with a bundle of tulips in hand.
Throughout my entire running around, I held at bay the excitement in my bones about this, as well as the possibility that she might change her mind.
Since she gave birth, her body has metamorphosed into its most beautiful state; her boobs were bigger and fuller, her butt too was more rounded and I always had the biggest urge to touch and caress her fluffy stomach.
But I had to keep it all in check so as not to make her feel rushed or that her refusal to have sex with me was an issue.
It wasn't; her body and mind had been through so much since the first time we met and these last few months were the worst so whatever she needed, I was ready to provide for her, even if it meant I had to tie my cocks so she doesn't see the impact she has on me.
Which is quite a lot.
Right as I got closer to her, she sat up and her eyes ran over my form and I could see the wanton thoughts form behind her eyelids, how she wanted me in many alluring ways.
I wanted to grab her and fuck her as much as I felt but I had to hold myself back. She was like a delicate flower right now and I wanted to make her bloom.
“Hi baby,” I whispered as I joined her on the bed, “do you want to head back to our room? I've prepared a bath for you.”
My words brought a wider smile on her face.
“Yes, a bath sounds like a great idea.”
I carried her and teleported to our room and stood her on the ground.
As I began peeling off her clothes gradually, I noticed a hint of doubt on her face so I stopped and stepped back.
“Baby? Are you okay? If you want us to stop, just say the word at any time, and we will,” I told her, meaning every word coming out of my mouth.
“It's not that I don't want it, in fact, I really do. My body seemed to suddenly understand itself, and I'm no longer in that weird state of mind, but..” she paused and went to sit on the bed. “I'm just wondering if this is the right time for it. People died, Xavier. And it's all because of us and we're about to send them into another war. Shouldn't we be... I don't know, sad?”
I breathed deeply, completely understanding her feelings. I'd felt the same way especially as I had to round up the dead bodies and face the families that lost people.
But then, this moment is also important in our relationship, and I didn't want her guilt-tripping herself for something that wasn't even her fault. The whole experience jolted her out of her depressing state, and I didn't want her to go back there, so this was going to happen.
So I gently brought her soft body closer to mine and grabbed her neck so she could look me in the eyes.
“Baby, there's nothing we can do that we aren't doing already, okay? It's all gonna be fine and I've gotten everyone on a game plan so we don't all spiral into a depressing state. We need to be mentally prepared for whatever is coming our way. Besides, you've been sad for a very long time, you deserve to smile,” I said to her and began kissing her neck with every word coming out of my mouth. “You deserve to relax,” I kiss on her forehead.. “breathe,” another kiss on her ear lobe, “moan,” a peck on her chin, “and let go of all that pent-up emotions,” I finished with a kiss on her lips.
“But… but what about the baby?” She asked in protest.
“He's with Lisbeth, Roe, and the girl. Don't worry about anything my queen, it's all taken care of,” I told her before carrying her into the bathroom.
