CHAPTER HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-SEVEN

“She's gone,” a human male said to me as I turned towards the direction that led to her friend's rooms, his face filled with fear.

“What are you talking about? What do you mean she's gone?” I demanded, my brain refusing to process the information he'd just dropped.

“Your Majesty, she was coming out from the hospital room when they appeared and injected her,” another one next to him added, and I realized the rattling sound was from my wristwatch because my hands were shaking, my whole body in fact, “he took her and disappeared before we could do anything. We've been looking for you to say something,” he finished and I could see they were telling the truth.

I just refused to accept it. It made no sense, kidnapping her wasn't their mission here, so why?

I teleported to the command room, looking like a mad person for sure.

“I'm putting the ship on lockdown, they took Tessa!” I screamed at my generals as I pressed the button that would send everyone to sleep until I undid it.

“Kaid, you're in charge until I get back, Lyra-en, and Lamin, you're coming with me. Once Zyx gets back, tell him to come find me, I'll keep our connection as stable as I can. The rest of you, make sure the ship is static until I get back,” I commanded, my mind on autopilot as I rushed out, my generals in tow.

“How did this happen? I thought she was with Zyx,” Lyra-en asked as we got into one of the smaller space ships we'd recreated after defeating the Draks the first time.

“Some humans said they saw a Drak inject her,” I growled as I flew out, everything in my being hot and sizzling.

I was angry, frustrated and more than anything, scared. So many possibilities were running through my mind, none of them good.

I still had a connection to her but it wasn't strong enough, they were far from us. If she was closer, I'd be able to control her mind to wake up and teleport to us even though that was dangerous but all I could feel was that one line that showed which direction in this infinite mass of space that they were headed.

“What if this was a trap to lure you out?” Lamin thought out loud, “we should have brought more soldiers.”

“Well thanks to you guys, they're all doped up on Nexarion!” I snapped, angrier than ever.

“I'm sorry,” he mumbled and went back to his seat at the back. If Zyx was here, at least he'd be able to understand my mind. Over the period we'd been on this journey, we'd formed a good bond, one better than what I had with Corbin. It wasn't because of forced proximity or a result of our parents fighting each other.

It just seems like these Draks are trying to take everything away from me.

I couldn't disconnect from my ship and conned to this one so I couldn't perform any magic tricks, meaning I was flying almost as fast as they were, only going a little bit faster; or maybe I was just fast in my mind and in reality they'd gone too far.

I hated how they just kept coming after me in the most hurtful ways. First my son, then my ship and now the only reason I'm living. Tessa had become more than just my soulmate or Luminari, she was everything to me and they just took her.

Scenarios of things they could be doing to her just kept flowing through my head.

“Your Majesty, are you.. are you crying?” Lyra-en asked from the back.

“Of course not!” I snapped but my hands were shaking and I was literally dry heaving.

She got closer to me, tentatively as though I was an angry tiger and stretched her hands towards the steering wheel.

“Can I help? You'll direct me,” she said gently, but I shook my head.

“If I don't keep my hands busy, I'll probably go nuts. Don't worry, if I feel sleepy, I'll get someone to replace me,” I assured her, my voice finally calm.

She nodded awkwardly and went back to her seat.

I focused back on flying, and that was when the tears began pouring out of my eyes. I had the biggest urge to hit something but I couldn't, I needed to keep it in and reserve it for the bastards who took her from me.

*What if I lost her? What if I was too late?*

“Fuck!” I screamed out loud and the two of them jumped out of their seats.

This time, I didn't hesitate to hand over the wheel to Lyra-en.

I say behind her, crying pitifully not just from the overwhelming sense of failure but out of the fear of the worst possible case scenario. I knew these Draks from years of studying about them and they didn't take kindly to being bested; and my wife did just that.

We flew for hours, trying as much as possible to catch up with them and switching shifts every few hours.

Finally, I saw a light blinking in the distance.

“Off our light?” I exclaimed to Lyra-en and she did immediately and proceeded to get up.

I took over the steering and began navigating towards the ship ahead of us slowly.

I'd placed a ward around it but I would prefer not having to face machine gun fires for now until I figure out a plan of action.

I got closer and there were five of them, making me pause.

“How do we know which one she'll be in?” Lamin whispered.

“The same way we found her, dummy,” Lyra-en snapped at him. I brought Lamin along for his sheer brute strength, not his brains so that was quite expected.

As we got closer, I slowed down until I had to switch of the engine, allowing it to drift slowly until we were within teleporting distance.

“Remember to stay close to me no matter what, I can't fight and protect you from a long distance at the same time.”

“Yes Your Majesty,” they both echoed as I placed my hands on the both of them and teleported us into the other ship.
