CHAPTER FIFTY-SEVEN
“Excuse me? This way, Ma'am,” a robotic figure called my attention and I only knew they were a robot because of their eyes. Everything else was feminine and perfectly designed, down to the color of their skin. It was one of the things that reminded me how far I'd come because back home, robots were like myths and outlandish stories children spoke about but here I was, speaking to one. I didn't even know how to properly react.
“Sorry, I got a bit lost,” I explained quickly and followed her back to the office where Xavier was sitting.
Kind of annoying considering he was supposed to meet me at the elevator but I had already come to terms that I was stuck with this shell of him until I figured a way out so it was best to avoid getting angry until I really, really had to.
Getting lost was kind of an understatement, I'd walked through the maze of a lobby and opened almost all the doors except the last one before the robot had come to get me. Every other door was made of glass except that one and it had caught my attention. I tried opening it but it was locked, leaving me wondering what could be behind it. If all the other doors were glass doors, including that of the King, what was so important and secretive that they needed an extremely strong iron door to lock it in?
Anyways, that was not my immediate problem as Xavier was currently giving me a death glare.
“Are you even paying attention or you've disappeared into your mind again?” He asked in a condescending tone.
“You said Marina will put me through the minute requirements of a queen and I needed to follow her to my office, and if you were me, you'd take any chance you can to escape such a stifling existence,” I replied to him in the same tone.
The shock on his face gave me such a sweet satisfaction I couldn't help smiling.
He wanted the fiery Tessa, he would get a dragon; so for each tit he gave, I'd give him so much tats that the face he had on right now would become his permanent expression. I was done feeling bad about his behavior or blaming myself internally for it.
“Well, yea. She's going to do that right after she gets me my morning coffee so sit down and wait for her,” he said, recovering from the shock of all that.
I did as he instructed and took a look around his office.
His father's picture was still hung at the center of the large wall behind him as the King and his next to it as the Prince but I guess something was going to be done about it pretty soon.
I'd come in through the lobby that had a waiting area and in here was also a very large room with an office table and swivel chair. It gave a clean aesthetic and his glass table was very long.
On the left side was the floor length window that overlooked the entire city, the view breathtaking.
I stood up and went to it, careful not to get too close as I wouldn't want to faint from my acrophobia.
The door opened and the lady who I assumed was Marina walked in with the tray containing coffee and some snacks, reminding me that I'd not eaten anything today.
Looking at her, I understood why Theresa was trying to dress me up like I was heading to work at the strip club. She had on a working suit, quite alright but I could see half of her boobs and so could Xavier if he wanted to but I guess he wasn't into Moderates, just humans like me who wanted nothing to do with him.
She finished serving him with a stellar smile and I held myself back from smiling as her attempts to shove her nips in his face didn't gather any reaction from him. I wonder how they'd worked together for so long if she wanted him this badly; I mean, she knew I was going to be at the capital Secretariat today and we would have to interact so why would she still dress like that? So many questions, very little answers.
“Marina, meet your queen, Tessa. You'll be putting her through her duties and responsibilities, but be quick about it. We're going for the first appearance rally at the town square in two hours,” Xavier instructed her
“Oh, I thought you guys were on honeymoon. You've been looking all lovey-dovey on the tabloids,” she asked with fake concern.
“That is true but as you might have noticed, my father left a lot of things unchecked and the former queen was a queen in name only so until we reduce the workload to a reasonable amount, we can't ride off into the sunset so put my wife through and get her back in time for the rally,” he explained to her, barely looking at her.
I couldn't even explain it to myself but his reaction to her callous attempt at seduction gave me immense joy. Ridiculous in fact because he was going to get someone else pregnant in a few days and this will simply be a job I was doing in order to help humans live a better life.
“Yes, Your Majesty. Do you need anything else?” She asked, still standing in his breathing space.
“Yes, I'm guessing you have a date after work and that's why you are dressed that way but don't dress like that around me next time. Understood?” He said to her and I saw her face go from blue to a darker shade of violet in shame and I couldn't stop the smile on my face.
“Yes Your Majesty,” she croaked, her voice filled with emotion.
I would have felt bad for her but she intentionally disrespected me and I was just so glad Xavier didn't treat this like the Lisa situation. To endure this with everything else happening would have driven me crazy.
Fake marriage or not, I didn't do well with disrespect.
She gestured for me to follow her and I did, walking behind her as she nearly ran out of the office in shame.
“What exactly am I going to be doing?” I asked cheerily and I knew I was being bratty but that was the intention.
Sometimes, I like to imagine that I and Xavier weren't in this world with this chasm between us and he was mine completely and I was free to move him without any restrictions. It was bliss.
But in reality, he was an alien, I was human and his secretary was giving me murderous looks as she led me to my death, sorry… office.
