CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND THIRTY-NINE

“He's going to need a lot more attention than we need more attention,” Memphis began, tilting my heart upside down, “because the whole situation with Fanny has made him bipolar. I know, he's just a child, how will I know?” He asked himself as though reading my mind.

“But he's just a child, Doctor Memphis,” I replied, my heart breaking into two.

“He protected you so much that he fueled the power inside of so you became powerful enough to survive, yea?”

I nodded.

“But the consequence of that he's in defense mode all the time. The older he gets, the worse and if care’s not taken, he'll be fighting wars that don't need fighting the moment he can walk. He's also extremely powerful, you won't see it now but I'm a ky'rhan before a doctor, we can see this from a distance.”

“So what can I do? I want him to have as much of a normal life as possible considering the circumstance.”

He moved closer to me and reduced his voice as he spoke.

“He's fiercely attached to you so utilize that. Until we can find a way for him to feel other emotions besides anger and the need to hurt somebody, you'll have to be the one centering him, he'll always listen to you.”

“But he'll be overly dependent. What if something happens to me?”

“I understand your fear and look, this isn't permanent. Once we get this poor medical field situation sorted out here, I'll be able to begin research on what can cure or at least stabilize him, until then, you're going to be his pill. He's driven by love and he loves you so take advantage of that to prevent us all from getting burned or something, his power's too volatile,” he finished and then got up.

I looked at my son, he was all smiles and playful now but knowing he could get upset and hurt people in the future scared me.

How was to keep him calm in every way without over crowding his life? I knew how my relationship with my mother suffered because she insisted on smothering me.

Now I'd have to become a worse version of that and he can't even find out why or he'd hate himself.

I sighed and picked up our things just as Roe walked back in with what he requested.

“I'll be heading back to the capital building now, I have a few things to round up with the minsters,” I informed them as I stood up.

“That's alright, I'll see you in the evening, remember you can still drop him off with Lisbeth if you're feeling overwhelmed, don't strain yourself too hard,” Roe said, giving me a hug afterwards.

“Thank you, I can't wait to hear about your first day at work afterwards,” I replied with a smile.

Then I teleported to my office, a large space with plush chairs and a beautiful chandelier in the middle of it. It was basic yesterday but I made some adjustments before heading home and I loved every bit of it now.

After settling in and collecting my thoughts, I began merging atoms in the air to form the cot I'd envisioned the night before for Xander.

It was a tricky situation because of I put in the wrong one, I might as well be making an explosive but I had also perfected listening to space even though it was far from me in that moment.

I wasn't all powerful but pulling things out of the air, literally always made me feel amazing.

I checked it for any dangers before placing Xander in it. I sat him up and placed his feeding bottle next to his mouth with a robotic arm.

I waited for him to settle down and relax before I went to open the door.

But before I did, I began hearing voices outside, a conversation with my name in it but spoken in the ky'rhan language

“– I don't know why he's comfortable letting a woman run this government. We need to call a high council meeting and subject her to the test!”

“Exactly, I know the test is definitely going to make her go nuts and she can stop thinking just because she has a few tricks up her sleeve, she can boss us around!”

“She's even late to work! What kind of a queen does that?”

I sighed and then opened the door to see Minister Kayan and Tunde, Minister for trade, standing opposite my door, mouth agape.

“Come on in sirs, I would definitely like to hear more about this conversation,” I said to them with a grin.

I walked past them to the reception and gave her a sign to let the others in as well.

I'm sure these ky'rhans bypassed the young girl against her protests.

“Your Majesty,” Kayan began as I walked back in, “I would like to apologize ahead before the news gets to you but we're not comfortable with the new recruits you sent to us. Alien forces among our ranks would make us look weak,” he finished, sitting down opposite my chair.

I waved Tunde over to the other one before I sat down myself.

I didn't say anything at first, drinking water before responding because I could already see the headache this ky'rhan was gonna give me today.

“Minister Kayan, am I a ky'rhan?” I asked, looking him in the eye sternly.

“Of course not but his Majesty is your husband and thus you're expected to be queen so…” he trailed off.

“The former king, Seth, had a ky'rhan queen and he didn't give her the chance to do any of the things I do, not because of his inherent heartlessness obviously but because she was incapable of it. Pettiness is more of her forte which was why I ensured she's well settled on the Gradon island currently but me? I'm different, I have capacity and I can do this, hence it doesn't matter if I'm human or ky'rhan so you're going to put those women to the test and if they fail, let me know how it goes, hm?”

“Of course your Majesty,” he conceded right as the other ministers came in and we began working on the day's agenda.

We were discussing the third topic of the day when Xander began crying.

And the lights in the office broke to pieces.
